The Dreadnought looks INCREDIBLE! I love this ship for sure. Whoever rendered it did a great job on it visually.
My only complaint--and in fact the only thing that will keep me from buying the Dreadnought Carrier at all--is the bridge officer layout (BOFF). Carriers, by their very nature, are support ships. But in the current layout, the Dreadnought's ability to support both itself and others is severely limited.
I suggest two minor changes in the BOFF layout: Change the Lt. Tac to an Ens Tac and the Ens Sci to a Lt universal slot. In short, take one from tac and add it to the science slot, which becomes universal.
The added universal slot would make the ship fun to fly and build, since it would allow for greater flexibility (not to mention survivability). These proposed changes also make the ship a much better team-ship--able to heal well both in the area of hull and shields. If some kind of change like this is made to the BOFF layout, I would certainly spend money on it. Responses anyone?
I disagree, leave the boff layout as it is. It will be great for pve as it dooesn't need high turn to use DHC and has the tac stations to get more out of DHC unlike the other carriers. It will still be about as survivable as other tactical ships in pve.
Yes it will have weaknesses in pvp as it doesn't have enough turn to use those tac stations efficiently, and a slow ship like that could use more eng and sci to improve survivablility. Thats part of keeping the game balanced, ships should have weaknesses, and we don't need another overpowered Jemhadar ship without any weaknesses in pvp.
I also rather like the current boff set-up, though I do mostly PvE as well so there is that. She looks like a monster mated with a beast, and also a giant snail. Im betting heavily that she will handle great in STFs, not like the borg are running fast circles around anyone
you can see a jem'hadar cruiser (the size of a galaxy class) crossing above it adn this ship is a **** ton bigger than the one we got in game...
h???? shape is 99% correct...the texture is off, still more accurate than the galaxy class that is ingame.
and the scaling? well neither the DS9 nor STO ever was accurate about that stuff, especially with klingon ships and dominion you allways saw massive inconsistancy regarding size in the shows.
That's a Dreadnought. You don't send a dreadnought to keep escorts healed. It's the other way around. Escorts should support it and help it by fighting what the dread can't keep in it's front arc.
Don't want to flame escort captains, but they need to "escort" battleships sometimes, instead of expecting the battleship to escort them. That's not always true, but live up to your name!
As a Dominion ship, it doesn't hold true to the fed method of fighting, shields never drop. It doesn't hold up to KDF either, no-cloak. I'm guessing the Dominion goes for the "offense is the best defense" approach. Dreads and escorts should work together and kill together. Escorts are the hammer, and Dreads are the anvil.
Another vote for "Leave It Be". There are carriers that support allies... this is a carrier that leads the charge and mercilessly kills everything in its path. Pick the ship that suits the role you want to play.
The way I see it... the Dreadnought is fine the way it is.
She may not look like much, but she has it where it counts. Hull, shield modifier, consoles... She's a fantastic ship in my opinion.
A sweet friend of mine gave me one, and I managed to snag 1st place in Crystalline Entity with it. Just slapped polarons on it with phase modulators, MACO shielding, Borg engines, MACO Deflector and went with it...
