some objects are apparently placed using a "center" that is not inside the object....

On 21 may 2013, the lag in Star Trek online transcended EPIC! to become near complete Temporal Stasis.
Do not panic. The time distortion effect should end soon.
Show Archon and Borticus how much you would like to see new Doff races!

Yes, this inconsistency is a major difficulty and, in some cases, downright bizarre. The Klingon door whose center point is several meters to one side of it comes to mind. Of course fixing that now would screw-up every use of it in an already published mission.
