# 1 Feedback wanted on PvE MWAE
05-04-2013, 03:33 PM
Right so I've spent a great deal of time thinking and discussing how to 'best' built the Fleet MVAE.
Before I spent all my fleet credits, dil and ec in this ship, I want to get your feedback on whether this all works well.

My setup would be:
3x AP DHC DMGx2 ACCx2
1x AP DBB DMGx2 ACCx2
3x AP Turret DMGx2 ACCx2

MACO Shield
Omega Deflector and Engine
5x AP Tactical consoles (will probably get the second highest, highest x5 is a bit too costly for that little damage increase)
1x Neutronium Alloy
1x Field generator or -threat console
MVAM console
And then I'm not quite sure if I should Subspace Jump and Borg console, or if I should get more of the above.

Boff layout would be:
TT (incl purple doff for CD), CSV, CRF, APO
BO, CSV
BO
EPTW, EPTW
HE, TSS, GW

I know that the DBB with 2 BO's might not seem as the best choice, but I've done the whole 4x DHC and it's boring, torpedo's are not my thing either. So I rather take the energy hit and use an EPTW straight after it. Good chance this is not the highest DPS setup, but frankly the game is so easy endgame, that it really won't matter, not to mention that I should still do more then 98% of the people I encounter.
My worry is that I won't have enough shield skills.
And yeah the 2 universal consoles is a tough one as well.

As for boffs I was thinking to get 2 human 2 saurian, and for doffs I would get the TT purple one, the specialist for damage against borg and?

Any tips would be welcome!

PS money is not an issue, zen is though, constantly doing the contraband assignment with 7 chars to get enough zen for the new romulan chars and ships.

EDIT: Just noticed I did the thread title wrong.

Right now max PvE damage is Romulan disruptor -- 5x Plasma Tac consoles with 3x Embassy Science Plasma consoles ontop of dual-proc (plasma and disruptor) Mk XII weapons should just melt things. If you can fit in the Romulan Singularity set two-piece, there's even more base damage buff on top.

If you're sticking with AP, going all Romulan Tac BOffs to max out your crits if you have the FC and Dil (and your fleet has a fully leveled embassy) for it is worth considering.

The Borg console is nice, but becomes even nicer if you have the Cutting Beam aft for the two-piece proc of reduced weapon energy consumption (which is very handy if it procs for a BO).

You might consider changing one of your EPtW to a EPtS for shield heals (note: EPtS is no longer getting nerfed come the 21st, other EPt powers are getting buffed, though) and getting the DOffs (Damage Control Engineers, IIRC) to reduce their cooldowns.

I would advise against the MVAE... It used to be a very solid ship but now the Fleet Escort or Armitage is a far better choice if you cannot have the Jem'hadar ships.

Fleet MVAE is very viable with the 5 tac consoles. I'd recommend switching the DBB for a Quantum for PVE, and adding a second TT. Save the doff slots for Shield distribution doffs, traditional conn doffs, and one other of your choice. Use the Lt. Comm. sci slot for a gravity well or heal like TSS III or HE III. Also, I think that CRF III should be in the Comm. tac slot and APO in the Lt. Comm. slot. Also, you need a polarize hull on the MVAE since you can't run dual APOs. I always use PH 1, HE 2, and the GW or TSS III for my sci officer.

I've looked at plasma because not only does it work well with the consoles, but the beam array doesn't use energy with normal hits and much less with BO. Still I find it hard to believe that this advantage plasma got right now, will stick. Even then it's not that much of a increase.

The romulan boffs require max embassy? If so then that's no go yet, but I will definitely keep it in mind when that's possible.
The Kinetic beam is a great tip, didn't think of that one!

I already own the MVAE, so there is no option of going for a different one really. I also disagree about the use, a lot of people see it as weak, but it's turnrate is insane. While it's boff layout is less then that of the JH Attack Ship, everything else is matched or better imo.

I know that Quantums do better, but like I said, I find them to be quite boring. I'm pretty much set on using a DBB. I'm not trying to create the strongest ship, I'm trying to make a ship I would enjoy as strong as possible. I do appreciate of course the feedback.
Switching CRF and APO seems about right.

As for PH, I need to check that out, not sure how much I will really need it, it's just that I want to keep those EPTW's to make up for the BO and I like to keep that GW, so I need a shield skill. PH1, HE2 and TSS3 could defintely be an option that I might need to keep those EPTW's

For the best ones you need Tier 3 Recruitment. You can get Rom BOffs at Tier 1 Recruitment, but they only have 'Basic' versions of the traits. If your fleet is moving at a fair pace through the Embassy I'd just wait until Tier 3 is done. Seems like a waste if you plan on getting the better ones later to drop that many resources if you're going to replace them.

I was able to check it out in an allied fleet who has tier 2, and frankly that's all you need, the very rares do not have the crit passive, they only have the cloak stuff. The best one would be the male rare tactical. Female rare and the uncommons are all normal, whereas the rare male is superior.
So I need to get 120k fleet marks, quite doable. For now I bought the fleet weapons and the -th console with shield stuff.

Yeah as in the post above me, the tier 2 blue male boffs are the best for a crit setup, as the purples are for cloak bonuses.

Other than that, setup looks good for PvE, except for the un-optimumness of the DBB as previously stated. Not sure why the omega parts tho...just for tet glider? Depending on just how worried you are about tanking, maybe the Borg parts instead? And of course, fleet elite shields if/when you have access to them.

Using the KCB and Borg console for the weapon power proc will help mitigate the BO drain sometimes, and consider a battery cool down doff with weapons batteries as well.

Cheers!

edit: the anti Borg doff is kinda..meh. The 10% damage boost is to base damage, so maybe a few points more DPS, seldom worth the cost. However, if you do decide the 10% is worth it, use an exocomp (or even multiple) doff to get another 10% damage when using weapons battery.

Final edit: and going for a crit setup as you are with AP weapons, maybe see if you can get either a ZPE console or Tachyokinetic console in there for the crit boost. I know it sucks to loose either an armor or shield console, but either or both of those increases crit based DPS by a very measurable amount.

Odd... I thought they had already fixed the 'Superior' listings for Rare Males, it's the Very Rares of both sexes that's supposed to have them AFAIK.

I'd be tempted to swap one of the cannon abilities for an attack pattern. And I wouldn't get the Borg warfare specialist - it's not like you can't make optional objectives without him.
