Since the use of cloaking devices by the federation is prohibited by a treaty, why not then circumvent that. The caitian stalker fighter is a great example of the use of stealth without a cloaking device.


A tier 5 escort ship for the z-store, having passive stealth just like the stalker fighters from the Atrox Carrier.

Chameleon class escort:

STATS:
Hull Strength: 27,000
Shield Modifier: 1.15
Weapons: 4 Fore 3 Aft
Device Slots: 3
Bridge Officer Stations: Commader Tac, Lt. Comm Uni, Lt. Uni, Lt. Eng, Ensg Uni
Console Modifications: 4 Tactical, 3 Engineering, 3 Science
Base Turn Rate: 22 degrees per second
Impulse Modifier: 0.20
Low Energy Signature
+10 Weapon Power
+10 Auxiliary Power
Can use cannons
Thoron Beam Generator (Universal Console Mod), same as stalker but would look similar to the Heavy Graviton Beam from the Maco set (without the knockback)

The ship is light agile and armed, with its light armor and low energy signature the ship can engage larger vessels and overpower them before they even know hit them. The ship is designed to counter the ever growing number of ships utilizing cloaking devices, it is capable of getting close to an enemy ship bombard it and then fall back waiting for its passive stealth to kick in so it can go in for another strike. Perfect for hit and run tactics, the ship is capable of deploying a Thoron Beam (Universal Console Mod). This console can generate a beam that deals moderate damage to an enemy, but also drains the target's Auxiliary Power and may take its Auxiliary Subsystems offline. There is also a chance the Thoron Beam will jam the target's sensors, making it even harder for the target to detect the Ship.

If im missing any info or your thoughts and comments would be nice, I have a good idea of how I want the ship to look but I suck and drawing and don't know squat about design lol.

seems nice....but a 1.15 shield mod???? its an escort so i would be lower than 1.0

would be awesome to get though IF they made it :p

as for the universal console...i would really only make it viable on the escort and the Atrox and probably 4 tac, and 3/2 eng, 2/3 sci. really no need for a lt. uni boff though. make it a lt. sci and i would be fine

C-store ship with 10 consoles, insane turn rate and shield modifier, a universal console *and* universal Boff slots?

This badly requires a balance pass, but the concept of a stealth fighter is neat.

well I was going for it having the low hull that's why I beefed up the shield, kinda glass cannon-ish lol.


Why cant a z-store ship have 10 consoles??? Think of this as a BOP for the feds with no battle cloak. just the passive stealth, hence the turn rate, shields, and what ship comes out nowadays that doesn't have some sort of uni console, if they want they can make it only available for caitian ships like the atrox and the stalker.

As for the boff consoles I used the temp destroyer as a template, same with many of the klink ships, having the uni consoles gives it the versatility a lot of people are looking for, adding extra dps, more heals/resists, etc.



Another good idea i got was that since the ships name is chameleon, it would be cool to have a sensor jamming console that works like a holo emitter fooling enemy ships into thinking they are friendly. Think the holo emitters from the romulan ship in Enterprise, and the incursion cloaking technology they used in the story line of Starfleet Command 3.

Chameleon Console: (Chameleon escort only)
Passive incursion technology that can be used on enemy ships to make the escort look like the enemy. Rendering enemies unable to attack the escort. Firing will break the projection, Aux increases the power of the projection. Cannot be used in combat, Enemies with high Aux and points in sensors will be harder to fool.

The only C-Store ships at present with 10 consoles are the Odyssey, Bortasqu, and the Vesta. Even the recent Assault Cruiser Refit only has 9 consoles; Cryptic wants you to buy the C-Store version, and then the Fleet version.

Also, if you're making an analogue to the Klingon Bird-of-Prey, the shield modifier should look more like 0.88 -- that's what the Fleet Hoh'SuS and Fleet B'Rel Retrofit are at right now.

good points there, I have never seen fleet versions of the klink ships so I didn't take that into consideration, only what I saw on the store.

One reason I gave it 10 consoles was in preparation for the coming soon 2014-15 level cap raise. Premature yes, but its better to start having this mindset now so that no all ships that come out this yeah become second or third rate ships later on.

There's also the Steamrunner. That also has 10 consoles but lacks a fleet variant.

I like the idea of an innately stealthy ship you could possibly play like a BOP, especially if it was fast as hell. However if you want that shield mod on such a ship you would pay a heavy bill on the hull points wouldnt see anything north of 24k I'd bet.

I'm not sure if people would fly a ship with only 15 degree turn rate and 27,000 Hull. The Fleet Aquarius has only 26,400 Hull and 17 degree turn rate, and nobody flies it. As it is, your ship there kind of has the same problems that the Aquarius has, in that it's just a neutered version of something we already have (the Defiant). The low hull with high speed/maneuverability is a must for this hypothetical ship.

I think a good way for its Mask Energy Signature ability to work is for it to be an active ability, rather than a passive, that disrupts the enemy's ability to target your ship for X amount of seconds. Functionally, it's like phasing on and off of your HUD so you only see it sometimes, with an increased effectiveness the farther away it is.
