But if your playing PVE fleet actions, please play to your strengths. I am so tired of extending my cruisers shields around people or flying straight into the middle of the cluster and lighting up like a Christmas tree with my fire at will and tetryon beams to take out enemy shields all the while the rest just go off and try to take down a single ship themselves or what not.

Now I'm new to this hole fleet thing but I know how it works.

So I implore people who just jump into PVE fleet actions alone, you are not alone you are with other people so play to your strengths. If your in a escorts attack attack attack, if your in a cruiser help other people out.

Your cruiser is not a battleship. I can deal out quite a bit of damage especially with my torpedo's after I cut down their shields with my beams but it's so crap when I'm surrounded by cruisers helping them out with my buffs while they simply just fly around trying to beat everyone to the kill.

Is it always like this?

Unfortunately. Especially in Fleet Actions where the best reward is given to the best DPS. It is not the players fault really. It is a flaw of the system. The players simply adapted to the game and the only ones who really play to the mechanics of team play are pre-made groups.

Yeah, the reward system in Fleet Actions is highly competitive -- you need to place 1st or 2nd to get something good beyond dilithium, which means ignoring everybody else to blow up as many enemies as possible (and zerg the objectives).

Cryptic needs to actually make team support worth it before random PUGs will help each other out.

Since it IS a fleet action, I think they should come up with a system that actually rewards team play. The rewards would be across the board team wise (every team member gets the same reward) but, the better the team works together, the higher the reward.

I agree, I'll probably just stop helping people in fleet actions until I find an actual created fleet to play with.

actually, i hear this a lot and yeah i agree that rewards should be given for something other than DPS.

But, the real issue is that we all don't know what metrics/codes is available for the devs to use to determine the reward system.

Using heals/shield heals is not very effective because the player can just spam that continuously on himself and stay on one corner of the map.

At the moment only damage seems to be able to be used effectively because there's no way they can go afk and still able to rack up contribution points.

Yeah.. but how are we going to measure in terms of the metrics? We can't just theoretically suggest to reward team play.. I mean.. see my post above on using heals - the person can just go afk and spam heals on himself.

All the suggestions need to translate to numbers and quantifiable stuff.. instead of just "reward team play" please.

a devs overseeing fleet action system should actually try to help us here by explaining what metric is available, etc.

But seriously, the more i see it.. the easier it is for people to abuse "heals" as contributing factor. Spam spam spam Eng 3 and bam you're top leaderboard, rinse and repeat. You can even set a keyboard macro to just repeatedly press 1 button and hide somewhere in the corner of the map.
