Its uglier than both the Galaxy and Excelsior, its an old design and looked like a crude version of the Galaxy..

Morever, dev blogs mentioned temporal tampering by Tholians.. so its not a new ship with new systems like the NX replica. Its an actual mid 24th century ship, hence its worse in terms of technology vs Galaxy.

Therefore, I really don't understand why people are so enthusiastic about this ship. Apart from what the ship represents (The last of the mighty "Enterprise" to feature in the game and its contributions in the battle of Narendra III), the ship is nothing but a relic.

Maybe the enthusiasm really centers around what the ship "represents" rather than the actual ship which people would use to replace their Oddy, Regents, Fleet ships, etc.

While you're free to feel exactly as you do, this part right here represents nothing more than your opinion. You feel it is ugly and crude, I disagree. I find it to be a sturdy, powerful design that exudes grace and presence. So this alone doesn't actually present an objective reason as to why one may like or dislike the ship.

Yet my Mk XII weapons and shields will go right on it without issue. The hull strength is certainly decent, and makes it a fairly solid cruiser. So this, too, doesn't detract from why someone may like the Ambassador class.

Also, as a side note, there is a Tier 5 Ambassador Class Retrofit, so yes, the ship has been updated.

Just like the Galaxy class, a 60 year old vessel. The Excelsior class, a 100+ year old vessel. The Constitution class, a 150 year old vessel. All very popular, very much loved ships in this game. So far, you haven't presented a reason other than you find the ship ugly, which is purely a subjective reason.

While I cannot speak for others, I love the ship because I fell in love with it's design and purpose when I first saw it on the initial airing of Yesterday's Enterprise. For some reason, the ship spoke to me and while I love the Galaxy class, and I love the Excelsior class, my heart has always held room for the Ambassador class, so when the folks at STO said we were getting one, and that it would be a Tier V, I was beyond thrilled. I have been waiting for this ship for a long time, and I will finally have it, and I won't even have to pay $20 for it.

So for me, this is wonderful news. I understand if you don't feel the same way, but try to understand why some of us are looking forward to it's arrival.

Iunno. It's an unimaginative little block of meh from my perspective.

Then again, I loved the Fuzzyprise and eagerly await my change to get a New Orleans-class, so I can understand the attachment people can have to weird things.

Never really liked the look of the ship, but for some reason people seem to love it.

1) That's your opinion, not everyone will share it. there is no right and wrong when it comes to aesthetics

2) they mentioned on twitter that yes it is a 25th century ship. you get given the ship by starfleet, you dont find it during the mission.

The Venture Class (Galaxy skin) is also brand new 25th century design...yet it is the WORST cruiser.

True, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. But whenever I look at Ambassador class, I look at the ST production team trying to come up with a ship-in-between Constitution and the Galaxy.

You'd be lying to yourself if you say that the ship wasn't designed as a ship-in-between to show the fans that "continuity" in Enterprise evolution: It had the Galaxy saucer, Excelsior neck, Connie deflectors, Galaxy pylons and nacelles. Nothing really original and the ship parts seemed to be forced to blend together rather and not having a design "unity" (Alex White, author of The Element of Graphic Design: No individual part is viewed as more important than the whole design).

It wasn't a ship that's designed purely to capture the essence and uniqueness of the class. This is unlike the NX-01; Connie; Excelsior; Galaxy; Sovvy; Oddy, they're all designed specifically for its class and their ship parts are designed to support the overall consistent design language.

I understand what the ship "represents" and I have nothing but utmost respect for the ship. I'm happy to see it in game too.

But I still think its an ugly ship.

There's nothing wrong with not liking a ship. Sure there will be people that baw at you but in the end, its everyone opinion.

I simply saw it as trying to make a new ship while keeping what works. Much like how guns, fighter planes, ect. work. Then from the Ambassador to the Galaxy. It looks similar and yet still different using what worked from it's predecessor.

Oh, I certainly agree it was a "fill in the blanks" kind of ship, I just think they did a terrific job with it. I also respect your reasons for disliking it. I know she's not going to appeal to everyone. I'm just happy that I get to see it coming to light. I remember one of the first polls after STO was released was asking what ship we wanted next. Ambassador was way, way, down on the list, and I figured it would never happen. That it has is what makes me happy. I do hope that a ship you desire will become reality in-game. This is our little fantasy world, and I like to think we all get a fair shake.
