I am a tac captain looking to maximize my dps. I have the Chimera and I realize that I need to outfit it with phasers to get the most from the "big gun"
I do not yet have the Multi-Vector Advanced Escort, but I have the zen to buy it and the marks to then get the fleet version. That said, it is a lot of points, and I want to know whether it is worth the cost.
Can anyone tell me if the two "extra ships" from the Multi-Vector Advanced Escort use phasers, and if so, is their damage modified by your tac consoles?
Also, how does the damage from Multi-Vector mode compare to the Chimera's big gun?
Note that I do all PvE right now, I realize that there are better escorts for PvP.
i would get the Multi-Vector so you can use it on all your boffs,
then get the mirror patrol escort from the exchange which is cheap at around 190k as it has a better survivablity layout with its enginers stations
maybe 1st you should try the mirror partol escort just remember it don't come with the console.
the fleet advanced escort give you 5 tac console slots and 3 science slots which are great for embassy consoles. the plasma threat consoles give you a stacking dot, IE you can automagically land 3 plasma dots at the same time on a proc. I personally prefer the fleet advanced escort to the fleet defiant for this reason alone.
The spawns from using the MVAM console do not inherit any of your stats, as far as I am aware. They use phasers (beams on the Alpha and Gamma sections, there's a couple dual cannons on the Beta), and don't benefit at all from any of the equipment fitted to your ship including consoles.
That said, the MVAE is pretty nice. Most people use the LTC science slot to fit a grav well which can be very useful for bunching up enemies to kill them quickly, and also to give you more time to kill them in STFs before they reach an objective (time you don't need on a properly built escort).
I don't have any real numbers for you, but having flown both ships, I can't say the specials make that huge of an impact on your success, and the DPS boost seems minimal at best from a subjective standpoint. it comes down more to if you like the boff layout and/or look of the ship.
