Personally I'm in a wait and see mode regarding any possible s8 Rom faction, full/ mini/ otherwise.

However if there is one what sort of capability will the Rom ships take?

Fed ships are jack of all trades, Klingon tac oriented. Does that mean the Rom ships will be Sci based/ leaning.

I see especially the bigger Rom ships to have impressive plasma bonus firepower mixed with strong hulls and shields and good sci slots/ capability. This is at the price of speed and turn. What do you guys think?

I'm a huge proponent of making the factions feel and play as differently as possible.

The overall direction the still-hypothetical Romulan faction could take depends on which Romulans we're discussing. The Tal Shiar? D'Tan's group on New Romulus? Another splinter from the Empire?

If we're talking about the Tal Shiar or some other remnant from the old Romulan Star Empire, I think that the Romulan faction would emphasize stealth and mind games. Their ships might have battle cloaks as the standard (obviously subject to balance). I can envision birds of prey, warbirds, and science vessels as the three primary ship categories (supported by canon).

As with Klingons, birds of prey would be light, fairly fragile, and supremely agile. The Romulan version might emphasize crowd control and misdirection more than the Klingon's battle-oriented BoP.

Warbirds would be hulking behemoths. Durable, powerful, and stealthy... but slow to turn.

Science vessels are the category I'm least sure of for Romulans. Perhaps another category would be a better fit? Escorts? Something entirely new?

While I'm not yet holding my breath for a Romulan faction in May (the hints suggest that we could!), I think it would be awesome. Having a third faction would also give the dev team a real opportunity to define all three factions more clearly through gameplay and flavor.

I want at least these ships:

Starships:
- Bird-of-Prey
- Lanora-class
- Seeker-class
- Apnex-class
- Hunter-class
- Mogai-class
- Venatic-class
- D'deridex-class
- Apex-class
- Scimitar-class
- Huntmaster-class
Small craft:
- Romulan shuttle
- Scorpion Fighter
- Marauder

All Romulan ships will have the Reman skin, of course.

I really hoping that we can get the Old Style Romulan BoP and the Modern Romulan BoP. Could easily see the TOS version being for Tier 1 with the modern one for Tier 2.

The Mogai, I would like Cryptic to do like they done with the Vesta and split it into 3 types, one being the Tactical Mogai, the Engineering being the Valdore, and a Science version as the Norexian. That way all the names that was associated with the Valdore-type would make it in game.

And like mentioned in the "other game" thread, if possible I like to see the Firehawk / Shadow class make it into the game.

Also, I recall Suricata had a very interesting Romulan design that would be fun looking to fly as well.

Speculation?

Three primary ship progressions, with a heavy Eng theme tinged with Science. It fits into my preferred vision of "four potential factions" based on how they operate in space and on ground; KDF is clearly Tac/Eng, Fed is balanced, Dominion/True Way is very Sci/Tac, and Romulans are very Eng/Sci.

So first if your battleships, your D'deridex and so forth. Heavy on the Engineering with potent Sci slots, but with a fairly well-rounded console slots to make sure they don't skimp on the offense.

Then there's your support vessels, Science ships with a lean towards Eng, but not as many tac slots as the battleships.

And finally your Interceptors, a BoP-like line. They have fixed high-rank Tac slots but all the rest are universal, like Klingon BoP's with a clear-cut specialization.

Each ship would have a variant with interchangeable parts, one Romulan-themed, one Reman-themed, with two hull types also Romulan and Reman themed respectively.

Hirogen ships would be Tac-oriented with a Sci lean, but be C-Store only.

Yeah, maybe have them a different colour from each other, like the two we saw in Nemesis were: http://movies.trekcore.com/gallery/a...esishd1829.jpg

I would love for the griffon or raptor class to make it in. As long as the designs are Romulan or Reman I'll be happy.

As someone who loves that ship (it's second only to the epic beauty that is the D'deridex) I really like that idea.

Nice touch bringing together the many names for that ship

Sure. And, while they're at it, they can give the Feds V'Ger!
