Disclaimer: I'm really more of a software guy than a hardware guy, so this is my best guess. I bought this one (Alienware X51) around Christmas after my 4 year old XPS died.

I'm thinking that Cryptic probably has a mechanism in the game already that they can use to find out average player specs....

Just curious, but are you a part of the technical staff in some way or just a resident guru player?

I consider myself part of the community tech staff as a resident guru player, but I been helping when and where I can going back to beta.

I would actively encourage people to lie through their respective teeth and give the lowest possible spec they can think of so rather than increasing system requirements over time we can make the game more widely available to others.

So I will throw out a Netbook with a 1.6GHz process and 2GB RAM. 128MB onboard graphics and running windows xp.

Yeah the game runs on it but recently the requirements have crept up so now I can only move if the UI is turned off. It really is silly just how much processing power that the power tray takes.
