"So, to everyone else, what is the ship that you find yourself unwilling to mothball for any extended period of time?" - REyan01
I too absolutely love the Ambassador Support Cruiser Refit. IT will become one of my regular PVE ships. However, without a doubt, my favorite Starfleet ship in STO is the Excelsior (Enterprise B) Advanced Heavy Cruiser Retrofit. In my humble opinion, it is currently the best PVE ship in the game, regardless of faction. The Excelsior retrofit has a number of valuable features : a strong hull, ample weapons slots, useful BOff latout, solid console and device layout and, finally, Transwarp Drive. One other great feature is its easy availablity as a regular, mid-priced, C-Store offering and not some rare lockbox gimmick. I jumped at the opportunity to buy the Excelsior Retrofit when it debuted and I've never regretted that decision. Excelsior (Enterprise B) AHC Retrofit = A+++ for PVE.
It's gotta be my PE, no matter how i look at it that girl has a vice like grip on this wild child. It has to be her set up, the Chimera, the JHAS, all these ships has her set up so i would happily fly any of them.
I did admittedly hang up my original PE for the Mirror version and i love it all the more, sleek, sexy, and dependable. She has that classic Trio of speed, beauty, and brawn, their is no perfection quite like the PE. Fly her once and you will never fly another type of escort again.
For me, it has to be the Original Designs for the Cheyenne (Plus Fleet Version) and the Galaxy Retrofit. Those ships scream classic Star Trek and are not as gimmicky as the self-appointed fan designs that have come out today. They remind me of Star Trek when it was just for the fans instead of the mass market and the adventures I dreamed about as a boy.
I also believe that the Odyssey will become nothing but a footnote of all ships to bare the name Enterprise. She's too ugly and is not a worthy successor to the Sovereign at all.
Since I got my Nebuler, I haven't looked at another ship since. Except the Varanus but that's a Klingon ship. Gots everything I could want. The ability to tank, support and look like the Galaxy class. Galaxy class bridges are a plus too.
As cruisers go, I have most of the end-game combat cruisers, but despite having a chel'gret, a FPE, a FTER, and a few other high damage ships, I always find myself silently sliding back into my Odyssey. I got her a little while after the 3 pack came out, after all the hype had worn off, and she just did everything I asked her to... and more.
Full MACO set, BAs, Torps... she gives it and takes it, and just looks great while doing it. I have other ships that are probably better at dealing damage, healing, or tanking, but she gets all three done, looks good while doing it, and still hasn't failed me.
As my KDF side goes though, it's my Tor'Kaht. I just can't seem to get away from that rugged little beast. I fly a chel'gret, a raptor... but in the end, the IKS Voidfang calls me back, and I go into ESTFs, Ker'rat, and most PvE, and leave with a smile on my face and glowing barrels on my ship.
Although, I've probably spent most time in an Excelsior and I'll admit I loved that ship to bits, the instant I slotted my toon into an Armitage I just felt like I was "Home".
I'm a huge fan of the Akira's style, so the chance to fly one as a T5 ship combined with the ship's ability to give and take a lot of punishment means the only ship I'm likely to abandon her for is the Fleet version.
