While that might be cool, it probably won't happen, since ad space in the trailers of a feature film (especially one as hyped as Into Darkness) is immensely expensive. WoW is the only MMO that I know of that has been profitable enough to sink money into televised/film advertising, and STO doesn't even begin to approach its profit margin.

There's also the fact that the traditional ST fanbase (of which 90% of STOs players are a part) is only a small fraction of the target demographic for the JJ-verse films. The cost/benefit ratio is stacked against film advertisements.

Not really. Since CBS and Paramount share the rights to both, they could wheel and deal here and there. It's a risk for sure, but fortune favors the bold no?

So inhumane superweapons, mass murder, and canon nonsense is okay, but speedos are too much for some people.

If politics can make strange bed-fellows... money can definitely make even the most bawdy of proposals seem attractive and wholesome.

It's not a matter of money paid, it's a matter of money lost. There is a finite window for ad time before a motion picture begins. The potential, long-term profits made from an STO ad during the promos for Into Darkness would certainly not outweigh the direct income generated by charging another company for the time.

Cryptic couldnt make a decent cinematic if their lives depended on it and that cinematic would end up lying through its teeth to the audience. Not to mention that STO has nothing to do with NuTrek.

STO barely has anything to do with OldTrek and the game diverges into nothing more than Champions Online with Star Trek skins... oh wait... they are made by the same company go figure how that happened, huh ?

Touche (even the most basic messageboards support the acute accented E, shame!).

As McDonald's is to fine dining, Cryptic is to MMOs?

hehehe, god no, cryptic has done good as far as MMO's go, no no no, put PWE in place of Cryptic then you got the moneyshot, PWE is a decent company but spans so much it has become an EA clone (blanket protocols for every game under it, whatever made the prequel to one game sucessful, another game's best perk will be forced on its sequel just because it made more money than all other games under the EA umbrella, basically FORCED Multiplayer on games that should never freaking have it, Deadpace 2, Deadspace 3 is long gone from the series. ME3 *allthough sucessful...ish*. the list goes on, they'd rather stiffle something unique to grab a quick buck instead of making something it'd be proud to flaunt.

Biggest thing I see coming: Sorry guys, when we made you think we were adding a completely new Romulan faction... we actually only added 6 new missions.
Oh but try the Romulan Lockbox for a chance to get the Romulan Warbird or the Scimitar Dreadnaught for 1200 Lobi

Plus: If you have the Jem Hadar Attack Ship, Jem Hadar Dreadnaught AND the Jem Hadar Escort carrier you will have access to: An exclusive set which costs 200,000 Dilithium.

What does this set do you say...

Well, first you get a hanger that launches Mogai Escorts with Torpedo Spread II, Cannon Rapid Fire III, Tactical Team, Dual Plasma Cannons, Plasma Torpedoes
You get an engine system which gives you a turn rate equal to an escort - Now you can outturn a Jem Hadar Attack Ship
You get a shield system that is double any other cruiser - Like the Scimitar had in Nemesis
You get a deflector dish that enhances science skill - Specifically the super weapon

Super weapon, you ask ? - The Complete set gives you access to the thalaron radiation AOE wave with a reduced fire time to make it reasonably useful.

Of course, no set would be complete without a big buff to plasma weaponary and it has all universal bridge stations with two commanders and two Lt.
I couldn't help noticing a somewhat sarcastic underline there, are you talking from experience?

I know I wouldn't be caught dead in that movie even if it had a ad promising that the Romulan faction would be launched.

Only in fiction. In RL, the bold get slaughtered.

Just saying, if Operation Return had happened in RL, the Defiant would most likely have been blown apart right along with her escorts. But hey, that's why we watch fiction.

Porthos is not amused.
