A bug that involved Romulan Liberated Borg captains and their skills once they chose an ally
Not sure I'm gonna like these changes but we'll see.
First off: Romulan Distress calls, reduced duration. Why didn't they simply put these things on a long cooldown and allow the responding ship to remain as an indefinate escort/wingman (until its destroyed), you know like the fleet operational asset ships do? The idea that a ship will jump in and then leave shortly after is aggrevating. They made sure that you cannot have Security Escort up more than twice, after that guards start disappearing. The same trick could have been employed with these escort ships. Also, it looks like the distress calls have a total of 10 uses. (Yes, it's comsumed on use but you have ten uses last I checked.) I don't know if that is still the case.
Second: The changes to the Foundry missions. I really hope they're going to be generous to those of us who made long missions and give our players a proper reward. But somehow, I don't think the cap on the scale will be what I'm hoping for. And for the love of God, do not bring back the daily 20 hour cool down. Making the mission repeatable (30 min cooldown) made me actually look forward to trying out other authors missions as I would get a good reward for my troubles and these missions usually took more than 30 mins anyways. I remember back when the rule of thumb was approx one hour per episode, so a 30 min cooldown was nothing. Bring back the 1000+ dil reward.
As I said, we'll have to see what some of these new changes are. But I am secretly bracing for a disappointment.
Also, anyone else notice Romulan plasma torpedoes veering away only to attack their own ships lately? Maybe it's been too long since I visited the Romulan front, but they seem to be bugged.
Didn't realize the Fleet Marks nerf was coming this soon, I had thought it was next weeks patch, and I had time to finish my starbase projects. The fact I've got 500 more marks to on one and won't be able to grind that out now is the straw that has broken the camels back.
Being able to grind 50 fleet marks in a half hour wasn't fun. I kind of hated it, it was burning me out but at least I could see how and where it was going, and the content wasn't frustrating. Playing a fleet event with pugs for 12 fleet marks in the same period of time is not something I'm willing to endure.
I've decided until such time as the fleet mark rewards are returned at the previous level to some form of the game, I'm not going to bother logging in anymore, and find something else to play. I canceled my subscription a few weeks ago, and had held off the last few weeks on zen purchases anyway. I'll keep checking the forum, in hope that sanity prevails among the developers.I'd rather play Star Trek then any other setting for an MMO, I've tolerated and financially supported Grinding in lieu of endgame content. This however is now an utterly hopeless grind. There is now no way I can get my fleet to Tier 3 like this. And that was all really that was bringing me back to the game every day, I've done everything else there is to do too many times to count.
It's also quite odd to claim that the Fleet progression is being too fast, when there ARE fleets at T5 already.
By this point it seems like the smart move would be to re-evaluate the entire Fleet system from the perspective of absolutely fresh, FIVE player fleets as the standard for pricing. At the moment, I seriously doubt anyone would even consider starting a new fleet if given the total costs in time and effort needed.
"Federation and Klingon Starbases: The Winter 2012 Base Ornament will now start off as hidden after it is unlocked."
Wow, what a positive surprise! Thanks for listening on that one, it's much appreciated.
Now, if you only could bump down the "Temporal Ambassador" mission to level 20.
I mean, there's no logic of geting the T3 Ambassador as a reward once a player is level 25 (and possibly 26 when finishes the mission). I love the T3 one because it saves me from using imho - uggly ships availible for the Feds. at Commander level. I'm pretty sure there will be many new players, or new chars. created that would rather use the Ambassador than the rest of the T3 offer. So please make it available at level 20 rather than 25.
The Romulan Republic - a faction in STO as of May 21-st!
Second: The changes to the Foundry missions. I really hope they're going to be generous to those of us who made long missions and give our players a proper reward. Dude ... They are going to screw it up in the worst ways.
I also fear this mission will end up on a 20 hour cooldown but am waiting to see on that.
But the real kicker is the loss of the fleet markers.
A mass majority of the players have limited time in game.
Foundry gave them a chance to earn dilithium + fleet marks while doing something different ... away from the constant grind grind grind of those other missions that are the same thing run after run after run.
My guess is they are (1) trying to force us back to those other missions that likely aren't getting played as much and (2) clueless about why players were going to the foundry for those fleet marks.
It's because they lack time to do it all and have to choose either a ground for resources or to enjoy story and content. The foundry as it was before gave them the chance to do both at the same time.
But that was not good enough for Cryptic it seems as they have an obsessive disorder of wanting fleet marks only on multi-player missions.
For me ... I would run these foundry missions WITH my fleetmates more than the other types which I PUGed.
wow, seriously people? Have your DOff's do some assignments, and hand in your commendation points at your starbase for fleet marks? From STO Wiki:
File Commendation Report
>>You can start Duty Officer missions at the console next to the tunnel in your fleet's Ops Center. Per commendation your points total should exceed 110.000 CXP before you can start a Commendation Report Duty Officer mission. Per Mission it will cost 10.000 CXP to earm 75 Fleet Marks (or 100 Fleet Marks on a critical success). The mission's Critical Success Traits are Tactical, Emotional, Resolve, and Cunning. It is suggested to never use "Success" Specialization because it reduced over all Critical Success.<<
I know, I know, it requires maxing out your commendation points to begin with and then transwarping allll the way to your fleet base to go to that room with the Watch Officer and accessing that terminal and then clicking a few buttons. I know it's rough to do. I know there's no pew pew pew involved and that it requires thought, but if y'all try it, you will succeed. I've maxed out all but two of the commendation system tiers in the year that I've been playing and once I hit that extra ten thousand mark on all of my tier 4's, I go over and cash in. Easy peasy. is it instant gratification? Hell no. Will it slow things down? A bit, yes. Is there a better alternative? Oh sure...grind out aggravating fleet missions for an hour or two in order to make at least equal to the above suggestion. OH and an added bonus, if you do the missions before you log off for the night when you come back, you get a big surprise!
i dont think the changes in froundry in the patch notes mean there not gonna be any more fleet marks be rewarded. i think they left the fleet marks there and not mentioning it at all in the patch notes.
