Yesterday, pre-patch, I was able to tank some of the top-tier Borg opponents in STF's - carefully! - and today I die in one or two hits.

The character that I've been using most lately is an Engineer, flying a Hegh'ta Bird of Prey.

I have max ranks in Structural Integrity, 7 ranks in Starship Hull Plating, 6 ranks in Shield Performance, 6 ranks in Starship Armor Reinforcement, and max ranks in Starship Shield Systems. I'm using Jem MK XI set gear so far (don't ask, the rest of my build is pretty unusual and the toon is only a few weeks old ).

This gives me 31,201 Hull Points and 5,814 shield points on each facing. I also have a couple of armor consoles for +37.5 Kinetic DR on the monotainium, and +32.5 Plasma/Tetryon DR on the Electroceramic.

So it's not out of the question for me to do a little tanking, though of course it is a BoP, so I have had to be careful - but since this patch, I go down really fast. Not just to cubes, but spheres and things too! It seems like I can't get one bit of aggro, and have to wait for anyone else to start firing at an opponent before I do, or it's instant death for me. It's more significantly the hull - my hull just evaporates, seemingly even to beam hits (at least I'm not seeing torps hit me...)

Are the invisible insta-kill torpedoes back with this patch, or what's going on? Anyone else having some durability issues?

The instakill invisitorp never went away, even when they said it was fixed they were still happening.

As for me, i hoped in today and it seemed like i was taking a lot of damage through my shields. they weren't at max or were drained way to fast, but there were times where even with them up my hull would drop to 30% or so. On a side note, i've also been having borg drop my targeting some how lately. I'm not sure what they're doing but i'd be attacking cubes and suddenly i'm not focused on them any more, and today it happened on a few probes during the KASE.


I'm not sure if its the last patch, but the usual problems are still around so if you're suddenly taking more damage they might have just nerfed your ships some how?

Yeah some of us was talking about this in an STF earlier today. Seems like the Borg got really pissed off after the patch. Havent noticed it elsewhere, just in STFs. The grounds too. Seen several one shot deaths in KAGE and CGE today.

One shots further diminish the healer role My science captain is sad.

Too bad there isn't a "revive" timer where the science guy can prevent a core breach or something.

I haven't done any STFs this week, but I would think a new wave of must have shinies is on the horizon! That or they want to promote people to get working on getting the current shinies they decided they could live without.

*sigh* I'm getting really fed up of doing space STFs thanks to the one-shotting; I'm flying a Heavy Escort Carrier, so with it being primarily an escort I don't expect it to tank a tactical cube on its own, even with all the shield abilities I have (2x tac team, reverse polarity, rotate shield frequency and miracle worker), but I'd like to at least have a chance to turn away, instead my shields can be stripped instantly, followed by an invisible torpedo that I can't stop that immediately finishes me off.

Sure it doesn't happen all the time but it's very annoying. Borg gateways are also continuing to annoy me, and they do seem worse than ever; if it gets a plasma burn on you that you don't have an ability handy to clear it with, then you're pretty much screwed as it can eat through hull in seconds, regardless of whether you had shields or not. I know that's why plasma burn is meant to be dangerous, but nothing else in the game seems to be able to do quite that much damage with a plasma burn, even the Unimatrix ships which seem to use the shields begone beam that the gateways use.

You should also be running EPTS 3, EPTS 1, Transfer Shield Strength and probably Shield Distribution Doffs for Brace For Impact.

That would provide significantly better shield heals and a lot less dying to random torps.

I don't think the Hegh'ta was nerfed. I appear to have the correct Hull Points and Shield Strength (I think? I included the numbers so if someone's an expert, they could tell otherwise!), it's something about the damage. The damage seems to be more or less fine on the shield, but it's just a BoP shield multiplier + low capacity shield, so I've been expecting it to fall and relying on my hull & armor to take a little bit of damage on so I can Miracle Worker or otherwise(ET + EPtS) heal back up into it, or enough to cloak and let someone else draw aggro for a lil bit - but the damage is now going through like crazy and I don't get that chance, like Borg beams are counting as kinetic-double-damage-on-hull style thing. Some of my fleetmates have noticed the change, some haven't.

And then I wonder how much of it is confirmation bias, or just "I've got slow reflexes today", etc. It's heartening to see other folks chiming in with similar tales and I'm not crazy.

Now I just wonder if this is behaviour as expected from now on out and I should modify my build a bit to be more survivable (slot a field generator), or if it's a bug and it's gonna revert.

I had my carrier one-shotted through maxed shields myself,nothing to do about it but laugh a little
