Okay. So I haven't played in a few days but my casual observation is this:

The plasma procs added are OMGWTFBBQ good. 4 threat reduction consoles and you get 4 individual bonus plasma procs on an anti-proton weapon? AWESOME.

The threat reduction was barely noticeable in STFs however. Should have been something like 120% threat reduction should have meant that even if 2-3 other people in an STF have the same consoles, there oughta be ONE PERSON in there without them.

Unless I'm doing 220% the damage of everyone else, I don't see how it should be possible for me to have aggro with 4 threat reduction consoles equipped if we're focus firing. Even moreso if they have threat control or threat boost consoles.

And going by experience with past MMOs (which may not apply here), cannons (which apply rapid fire) should generate less aggro than beams because I'd imagine aggro should be calculated by damage per hit/impact and frequency of hits to misses, not overall DPS. Meaning that Accx3 or Crit heavy weapons and beams and torpedos should all generate more aggro than Fleet weapons (which I use) or DHCs/turrets.

I mean, if you have two weapons. One does 100 Damage Per Second and fires once per second for 100 per strike. One does 75 Damage Per Second and fires once per three seconds for 225 per strike. The second weapon SHOULD be generating something like 2.25 times the aggro, I'd think.

I'm really not sure I get STO's threat mechanics.

Considering most PUGs will parse around 2.5k dps or less, your damage reduction consoles will not be enough if you do respectable damage.

The only time you will notice is if it is with other competent players.

Do they stack though? I know the normal plasma dot does not. So do 4 consoles actually add 4 separate dots or just pretty much guarantee that the one dot is active all the time?

Also, do we know if the consoles stack -threat or even do we know if they are intended to but are currently broken?

Also, proximity aggro exists and may not be affected by the -threat enough to matter.

They add up to 4 dots with 2.5% chance for each, not 10% chance once. They stack like projectile weapon doffs pretty much.

I think those are the most overlooked consoles in the game. They allow you to boost your DPS via Science consoles. Normaly those are reserved for defensive options (shields) or very specialized stuff that only Sci boats will care about (Flow Cap, Grav Well boosting). And guess what? You can still do the later as they still carry a respectable boost for a science stat on top of the rest.

Also the Tactical Kit and the Romulan Boffs are also totally amazing. Boffs that boost crit chance? Heck yes! I wonder if THOSE stack?

There is much awesome stuff in the Embassy. Too bad my fleet doesn't get it and prefers to spend all their ressources on 500XP starbase projects instead... Basically building my fleet's Embassy on my own >__>

about the embassy BOFFs:
i do have 3 very rares, one rare. all on one toon.

i don't really know about stacking, cause there is not much showing in the stats window (u), but a fleetmate supposed they only stack if they are not of the same rarity. (effective when having 1 green, 1 blue, 1 very rare), which seems not to be logical.

i would be glad if a dev commented on this.
1 - do the BOFFs stack (as letheans do) independent on their rarity?
2 - where do we see the crit improvements numbers?

consoles - pay attention, these consoles add the plasma dot only to ENERGY WEAPONS.
so all the mines and torpedos remain unaffected. what a shame!

You can see the current crit chance if you are in a space zone - not sector space or ground. So for example in orbit around earth or DS9.

Then go to your character tab, go to your ship and under Attack it's displayed.

Activating stuff like Attack Pattern Alpha or removing a console with crit chance will immediately change the value. (Weapon Crit modifiers are only per weapon and don't display there).

But I'm not 100% sure how long it will take for Boff effects to show. When I was testing how much energy I'd get from Efficient Boffs it never changed anything. Later people told me it could take up to 5 minutes to show. No idea if that would apply to the Crit chance too. But now you know where to look so you can check. I'm very interested to hear back from your results

I wanted to wait till our Embassy reached T3 before getting any.
