I was expecting a new free ship but was surprised to learn there are no more free ship tokens after 40.

So, for now, I guess I'll look into upgrading my current Advanced Escort, if possible. Can I craft superior shields, weapons, consoles, impulse engines, and deflector, to any that can be purchased? If so, how do I go about doing this, and will it be a process that calls for gathering of "ingredients" numbering so vast that it seems nearly unattainable?


I managed to build just over 85,000 dil, and was disappointed to see that I'll need nearly twice that number just to buy a decent new ship using dil. So, I'm looking at about another 3-4 months just for a ship, but then I need to get decent toys to outfit it. (Toys meaning weapons, consoles, shields, etc.)

There does not seem to be very many decent escort ships available to a Vice Admiral. Most are Zen purchasable, but I can't say any of them make me feel "Wow, gotta have that!" At least not enough to want to spend real money for the Zen.

Are there any 'craftable' ships that have better turn rates, more slots for toys, and such?

Now that I have a level 50, what sorts of things should I do to generate "currency" to buy the great toys? Should I look into increasing the number and quality of DOFFs?

At RA you get a T5 ship. If you want an additional T5 ship you should buy it from the Zen store. The upgraded T5s, and the T5.5s are in the Zen Store or in the Fleet Store.

The best gear comes from doing the various Reputation events: Omega, Romulan, Tholian, and so on. The crafting gear is no where near as good as the Raid gear you get from doing the Rep Events.

Keep in mind that you can grind Dilithium and convert it to Zen on the dilithium exchange. Your 85k Dilithium would be worth around 700 Zen right now. Just earning your average 8k Dilithium per day will earn you about 2,000 Zen in a month.

As far as Crafting, you do that at Memory Alpha - you would have been sent there around level 6/7 to learn about Crafting. You might want to replay that Mission if you don't remember it. But as I said above, most Crafted items are not as good as the Rep items.

Also, if you want to try (a slightly different version of) the ships you didn't get at lvl 40, you can buy the Mirror Universe ships on the exchange.

Just look under the tab Reward Packs and type what you'd like to try. They are very cheap.

Well Ship or not, Congrats on hitting level 50.

At 40 you're already in a T5 ship. That's the best ship in the game - not including C-Store and Fleet Store ships, which are the same Tier but come with special abilities.
