1. The Wing Cannons have a higher base DPS than Mk XII DHCs, but their energy drain is even higher (15). They have a very slow rate of fire and a cooldown between shots; they're essentially like "super" heavy cannons. They're listed as having [DMG]X4, but that's just to give you a ballpark figure, since there isn't really anything directly comparable. They're really more like an entirely new weapon type.

I'm aware Accuracy is more popular among most players than raw damage, but damage was thematically appropriate for these cannons.

2. Yes, you could slot all DHCs up front, but you wouldn't be able to benefit from the console abilities, since the consoles only function on the Wing Cannons.

3. The Wing Cannon Platforms deployed by the Engineering ship's console will only fire when you fire your Wing Cannons. (Yes, they're a lot like Option in Gradius.) They also deal less damage than a single normal weapon slot each, and they're destructible, with health comparable to fighters. If they're destroyed, the console has a 180 second cooldown, so you'd have to wait to re-deploy them. So, it's not really like you have 7 Fore Weapon slots. In testing, we've found that they're useful when you can keep them alive, but in PvP they can be very easily neutralized.

4. When the Wing Cannon Platforms use one of your cannon abilities as a result of your 3 piece set bonus, they still don't hit as hard as a player version of that ability. Hitting a target with three Overload attacks is still awesome, but it's not 3x the damage of the player version.

5. The Andorian Phasers (other than the Wing Cannons) are standard phasers in terms of stats. They're just color tinted to look appropriate for an Andorian ship. The ones on the Dilithium store are MK XI Purple quality, similar to other Diltihium stores. They're [Acc]x2[Dmg]. We may release more variants on these eventually, but probably not in the immediate future.

6. The "glass cannon" comment on the blog refers to both the bridge officer layouts (which do not allow for much self-healing, especially the Tactical variant) and the fact the ship does not have the Fleet bonus to Hull or Shields.
And here is more proof of how useless this ship is, ok maybe not totally useless, there is the warp core explosion that can kill you after you destroy the ship.

You should read the thread. There are plenty of angry KDFers.

I find it funny that half the thread is screaming about how horribly overpowered this ship is while the other half is complaining that the ship is completely underpowered.

Those are the people who are trying to stuff the thread with enough distraction to prevent Cryptic from nerfing it.

I see you fall into the former camp.

If you wouldn't mind answering, what do you spend the majority of your time in game doing?

Oh wow, killer Escort ships. I was thinking today on what to get for my Tactical Captain once I got to high level. Other than the Defiant. You got a winner here. Can't wait to buy one of these once I hit level. I really love the Kumari Class. That screen shot with the cannons firing done it for me.

Grinding resources. Fleet Starbase. Fleet Embassy. And two reputations (have to do those rep grinds because I changed main characters).

Also to keep things in perspective, I think the bug ship is overpowered. And the 5 tactical consoles on the Fleet Defiant really kind of push things into an uncomfortable zone in terms of damage dealing. The fleet Prometheus is also pretty darn powerful, but T5 Shipyards are a hell of a grind.

But, I am most likely going to get this three pack. I haven't bought a ship in this game since the Nebula was released.

i love the ship and want the 3 pack and i personally though they would be a wierd DHC weapon on the wings not a entirely new weapon type the Super Dual Heavy Cannons as i now dub them. this thing truly gets access to great firepower.

This is so awesome!!! I have little interest in Escorts myself; I love my Science Vessels too much, but finally a ship that can put the Jem'Hadar Attack "Bug" to an equal fight. No longer are they the Top Gun, this ship can do it just as well, if used right (assuming I know anything about Escorts). Great work Cryptic!!!

But the Sci/Engy variants are still far more durable than any Bird of Prey. So the Glass Canon comment is basically a lie.
