I've found that, when I get into an Exploration system which should be a Secure System with an attack right after warp-in, they often fail to initiate the dialogue box that triggers the spawns.
It's been my experience, described here and supported by others, that the systems that don't trigger properly are ones that the character has already completed. I've had missions that I've done fail to trigger for me, fail to trigger for teammates who've done them before, but then trigger properly for teamed characters that haven't completed that particular system before.
I've heard that QA has had difficulty reproducing this bug in internal testing. Maybe the testing accounts are 'too clean'? Does a testing tool exist to replicate having completed missions before or do the QAers just need to keep going until they get repeats? Would it be easier to copy player characters and analyze them?
Yeah it's a pita and i'm astonished it's been happening for so long and still isn't fixed. But then i still have times where i fire a torpedo and nothing happens yet my torpedo goes on cooldown...so i guess it's a low priority bug or they just can't fix it and gave up

B'Tran. System Lambda Sagittae 716-AJ. Mission Window says Secure System * Defeat enemy squadrons. I just flew in. No BO pop-up. No enemies appear. I flew around a bit. nothing. Another bugged system (this happens often). It's been suggested on this bug thread http://forums.startrekonline.com/sho....php?p=2719879 that the reason the enemy doesn't spawn is that this map is one we've done before and it's not replayable. I checked my logs and I did complete a System Lambda Sagittae 716-AJ Patrol on Stardate: 87877.52, Earthdate: 4/20/2010 12:03:08am. It sure would be nice if this problem could be fixed. I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say if there's anything further that myself or the OP/contributors to that thread can do to help, let us know!
If our theory is correct, the bug will just get more common as time goes on, and it'll get worse faster for the people who are frantically searching for ones that still work for them...
it seems to be happening like that.
i can hardly get an enemy confrontation mission not bugged anymore.
i dont do any of the data collect/ground explore missions, just warp in, see those and warp out waiting for a space combat one
now i get a working enemy confrontation 1 out of MAYBE 5-6 times i get them. that is less that 20% working and HIGHLY unacceptable. its keeping me out of the game really, and soon will lead to a cancel if we dont hear from the devs soon on this.
the broken ones are ALWAYS the same ones i had done before.
DEVS log onto my account and try to get an enemy confrontation in btran, u will see the problem.
no need for your "internal" testing.
You know what's worse? If our theory is correct, the bug will just get more common as time goes on, and it'll get worse faster for the people who are frantically searching for ones that still work for them...

I still get the Patrols where I have to approach and defend Base/Ship X from the suddenly attacking NoodleNoggins, and those seem to work great (come to think of it, next time I get one, I'll see if it's a repeater or a new one... I think I'm going to do that for all B'Trans, working or not... Have I fought these NoodleNoggins in this sector before? ).
I really wonder at those who say they're not getting this... Is it really some kind of limited bug or maybe they just have not already completed enough ECs to get the double-ups? Hmm.... Still, even if it is a "bug that only affects certain users" you'd think Cryptic could still check out those users (us three at least, lol) and find what's triggering the failure.
I'm running into this bug more often than not now. While it is kind of fun to RP that the enemy is so scared of you that they just warped out of the system and ran, Lieutenant Korbo frowns when you aren't able to explore those unknown systems in B'Tran...
I've not paid much attention to the system names to see if I have done them before, but will pay closer attention to it.
I'm also noticing that on missions where you have to defend the disabled ship, many times I have to make several passes over said ship in order for my BO to be able to contact them.
I'd like to think my officer isn't a nitwit and does understand the basics of interstellar subspace communications, but you never know. :p

I have this happen to me too. I'm glad it's not just me--no offense intended--but now the devs should fix the spawn points.
You know what I think would be even more cool? Forget the dialog tripping the encounter switch...let the enemy attack straight out of no where! That would be awesome. Uncloak behind my ship and let loose then it's on!
