Has anyone been able to get completely throught the tutorial and have the game "hang" on the load screen going into Sol?

Got in this way with my PC now as well.

I am still crashing to a black screen even after trying to use the "Safe Mode" and "Windowed" settings. I actually was trying to login a couple of times (in safe mode), was told the "server was busy", stayed on the login in screen and stepped away from my computer... came back to a black screen again.

Have the Devs made an announcement about this particular problem (other than the "safe mode fix" which is not fixing the problem)?

This has just started happening to me too since the patch. THough it could be coincidental. I have consistent crashes of the game client exe anyway but this crash has also started occuring.

i7 920 3.6Ghz)
6 gig Corsair ram
2 x HD 5870 (Sapphire Tech)
1 x Samsung SSD
3 x WD black edition. (game is currently on one of these)

Samsung 1920 x 1200 (gaming in the native resolution)

Tried the following:

All graphics settings set very low. Still get crashes to desktop - this black screen music crash thing
Turning off crossfire Same
Checked all drivers Correct and up to date.
Disabling sound No change.
Turning on anti aliasing. unplayable frame rate in either single or dual 5870 mode

I have noticed the game primarily crashes when either going from one zone to another or more often than anything else is when I am in a ground based situation.

I've been trying to play for quite some time (Jan. 13th or so) and haven't been able to get any farther than the bridge you immediately go to from the ten forward-ish room that you start in when you start a new character. I am able to hail the Khitomer and get as far as being told to take the turbolift. But after that, when i try to go to the turbo lift I usually get as far as the captain's chair and the game freezes. If I use the task manager to shut down the game and then load the game again and try playing with the same character, I get through the loading screens and end up with a unpopulated image of the last thing I could see before the game froze with music or something and once all that appeared was a starscape also with music playing. This seems somewhat different than what you are all experiencing but it seems similar to me.

Cryptic sucks...I'm contacting my credit card company to dispute the charge...If I was the only one with this problem, I could understand but apparently they've released a substandard product with no support whatsoever-in the future, I suggest they thoroughly test their products and improve their level of customer service before they start taking money from people....(or at least respond to people's queries about their technical issues)...

what a sad, sad day
