only a tac captain could proboly make decent use of a LTC tac on a vesta, on a nova it just means you can have APO once in a wile, like when you use TBR or something. it would be able to speed tank like an escort part of the time too. its one of the few ships the vesta and wells haven't made completely redundant
Its a good point its likely the only sci ship not to be replaced by Cryptics p2w junk. (yes I know its a fleet ship and p2w itself lol)

It is hands down the best tac sci ship... which I know people like to hate on... still my favorite ship to fly at the moment.

Spam and heavy projectile denial w/ 2 CSV's and a Target: Engines 3 that makes even the manliest bugs question their... fortitude... gives the LTC+LT Tac some legs for a Sci-guy.

Also, yes, the Nova's about 400 points behind the Vesta in base hull with a superior shield mod and turn rate.

Of these I have so far only seen one I can use properly, this is my main ship and as such needs to stand on its own as well as being able to make a contribution to a team (even if this involves swapping boffs which I am willing to do) the main criteria here is that is can win a fight without help...

I swear by it - as I posted in the 'ship you always return to' thread I created (http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/sh...d.php?t=540971.

Hrmmm, I had this open in a tab to post from earlier today (when the post was first made), but I never hit reply...curious...but still, tada!

Fleet Nova w/Sci Captain
- another flaky VD build -

Passives
New Rom - Precision, Sensor Targeting Assault
Omega - Omega Weapon Training, Superior Shield Repair

TT1, THY2, DPB2
EPtS1, AtS1
JS1, HE2, VM1, PSW3
ST1, TSS2
PH1

1x Rom Tac BOFF & 4x Human BOFF

DOFFs - SDO(BFI), DCE(AtS), 2x PHO(Shock), SE(VM+)

Weapons
Fore - Experimental Beam Array, Plasma Torp, Omega Torp
Aft - Cutting Beam, Plasma Mines, Hyper-Plasma Torp

Deflector - Axion [SciCdr]
Engine - MACO
Shield - MACO

Consoles
Tac - 3x Ambiplasma
Eng - Borg, Tachyo, Neut
Sci - 0Point, Nadeon, 2x Rom Part [Pla]

It's an annoying attrition build. Don't expect to charge in with guns blazing, melt a shield facing, and chew through hull. Those people are a dime a dozen and easily forgotten. No, you'll be smacking them on the back of the head repeatedly while broiling their hull...they'll die with full shields and remember the person that was just such a completely annoying lil' fu...er...opponent.

sci ships... they are not solo warrior ships, they just arent. not since shield striping stoped working. tac/sci can sorta pull it off with shield bypassing TBR, FBP, transphasics, stuff like that.

go watch some vids of maicake716's vesta, thats probably the closes a sci/sci can get to being deadly solo. and its partly because it focuses n shield striping a lot of the time. at its most extreme it will work ok on folks foolish enough not to have 100 or more in power insulators.

Ok...

Tac Nova...

Tac Team 1 - HY 2 - Overload 3

EPTE 1 - EPTS 2

Polarized 1 - hazards 2 - Repulsors 2 - Shockwave 3

Sci Team 1 - Transfer Shield strength 2

Jam 1

One Dual Beam - 2 Torps

2 Mines 1 Torp

3 Torp Doffs... 2 Photonic doffs. (if you really want to be a **** swap the HY 2 for a Beta... and add the Nadion Detector console with plasma torps lol)

Other options

2 Single cannons with a Dual beam and 3 turrets in rear... with a Rapid fire 1 and a Overload 3.

Another Option...
3 Phasic torps in front... 1 mine 1 cluster and 1 single beam in back. With Spread 3 and 2.

As said elsewhere, the fleet Nova is the ship I always go back to - no matter what new, shiny ships are introduced I wind up pining for my little Fleet Rhode Island sooner or later.

Even have the Fleet Intrepid, but still prefer the Nova and it's Lt-Cmdr tac slot. Granted, one loses the Ablative generator that the Intrepid enjoys, but it's not actually a huge loss really.

I will give a DBB build a go, it sounds better than my current dual beam array build I have currently, I might run it with BO2 and CRF2 to get more damage between BOs and will take bits and bobs from the sci layout and mix it with bits and bobs from others to come out with something unique but very nasty, at the moment I'm running a hold build with GW3 and PSW1 to push any escapees back into the grav well.

Though that does look a nice zone denial, I will give it a go if I put it into a group match
