YES! Let's not tell the people so we can trap one person into paying the full price instead of giving people a 3 weeks notice so that those that couldn't normally afford product X now may be able to plan and work it into their budget... BRILLIANT!
Man, you're an economics genius...
If you need some kind of advance notice to save up a few dollars (which you will turn around and immediately spend, leaving your piggy bank empty once again) you don't have any room to be talking about anyone else's economics sense.
Since the game went F2P in January 2012 there have been two lifetime sales: June 5-29 and October 9-November 12, corresponding with graduations and the instant veteran rewards perks.
Stahl has stated they plan on having a couple of lifetime sub sales per year. I'd speculate that there'll be one by or around May since they have said there are new perks for gold subscribers with their next big update.
i know the first lifetime sale ever (after initial launch) was during the US's "tax season" which the deadline for taxes is april 15th usually. with most people getting refunds by that time aside from those who wait till the last minute, which would incidentally coincide with more info about the may Update happening, so aprilish might make sense if they want a sale around the time the may update happens.

Curse you Archived Post.... you stole all my Ideas.
One thing is to announce .. lets say 2-5 days before hand... another is to do it when someoen asks for it.
They dont have to make a discount just cuz you want it... The "plz" at the end of the first post was just pathetic.
Iv dealt with people like that on my own game that has a small microtransaction... you get messages and posts about "plz make sale now".
Sales should be completely unexpected (with yeah few days of notice). Else If you do them at given times, people just hold back on all purchases until its discount.
Just like i delayed buying my new gfx card for almost a month... to get large xmas discounts.
for lifetime purchase there should be a 10 days or so refund if the sale does happen.. a month is too long.
And for zen purchases - no refunds.
Its just like it is everywhere - you buy a new car, but its on sale next week... you dont ge ta refund.
