For me, it took the -ignorex64check switch to make it work, finally.

I have updated the drivers and put in the ignore 64 command and I still dont have any sound.

Would updating my windows xp 64-bit to windows 7 possibly fix this or is this more of a realtek issue?

Same problem on my Mac Pro 1,1 running Windows XP x64. Tried three different audio drivers, the only thing that fixed it was the -ignorex64check. Hopefully either Cryptic finds a way around the issue or RealTek patches their driver once STO ships (or now ).

Sorry for this question:
Where do I find the "Advanced command line"? There is no such option under "Options".

I had this same problem; xp64, installed new driver after uninstalling old one, still no sound. Didn't try disabling the 64 bit check, as it wasn't posted when I was having the problem. Upgrading to windows 7 fixed it (I installed the newest driver before installing STO), though that's not a very good solution. I really wish xp64 was more reliable; vista and 7 use too many resources and 32bit systems can't address enough ram. ><

Mmmmm I think if this isnt resolved by retail release it might be time for me to get windows 7. Thanks for the input feks, I feel your pain about 32 bit systems....

I use Windows 7 Ultimate 64-Bit with onboard Realtek HD audio and also had no sound. Updating Realtek drivers had no effect, but using -ignorex64check at the command line fixed the issue for me. Just an FYI.
