Is there an answer to this or not. Honestly I'm tired of looking, and tired of waiting for cryptic to reply to my ticket

Seriously, it has been a month and this is still broken?

The DOFF space ability that immobilizes adversary vessels when Eject Warp Plasma is applied in combat by the player does not affect the adversary -- instead, the affect is applied to the player!

What happens is that if you have a vessel with this DOFF assigned to space, and you Eject Warp Plasma, the player is frozen in place for three seconds as soon as the Plasma is released. This often prevents the plasma from reaching the target or being spread initially, and it allows the adversary three seconds of free shots/hits with zero defense rating (due to the fact that the player is frozen in place).

This DOFF malfunction actually affects two powers -- the DOFF power itself, which is being applied to the player instead of the adversary, and Eject Warp Plasma, which is now more dangerous to the player than it is to the enemy!

I verified files several times, rebooted, and still no login...
Ditto, been having this same issue. See here:

Apparently a lot of people encountering the same show-stopper.

For our part we've tried uninstalling, reinstalling. Uninstalling, deleting all folders and Cryptic registry keys.
Uninstalling, disabling firewall & anti-virus, re-downloading installer, reinstalling, re-patching (on-demand turned off, so about 5GB+). Still encountering texture decompression issues. Tends to be a show stopper. Sometimes can play for a few hours after reinstall, but eventually texture decompression errors out again. Works fine on the OTHER older computer. Not sure what's going on here.

Have run check disk, have run memory test. Have run Burn In Test in several permutations. No apparent errors found. Will try a few bootable cd memory tests and HD tests from HD manufacturer. Not expecting much to be found since machine is new a couple weeks ago...

Will try completely uninstalling AV software and one more force verify and/or re-patch and/or re-install. After that it's pretty much in Cryptic's court. Always seems to be texture decompression issues... FWIW. Never any other issue. Seems like either the .hogg files are getting corrupted and force verify isn't fixing them, or for some reason they aren't being properly patched during updates? It always seems to be a different texture files listed. Maybe the entire .hogg file is corrupted? Don't know. Needs a response though. Folks are getting pretty irritated about this issue... It's a definite show stopper as it completely crashes to desktop with error message, gameclient.exe is hung in task mgr. Won't patch until gameclient.exe is manually terminated from task manager... Just sits there saying 'patching' but with no progress until after forced exit via task mgr.

Any help appreciated devs / techs! I'm trying to help out my friend troubleshoot this one: DramaLlama2010.

For my part it works fine on my laptop. It works fine on his OTHER computer, so don't know what's going on...

Thx,
~MG

Tried verifying files twice now, no joy.
Dunno what to do now, any suggestions would be gratefully received.
Yeah, force verify seems to do nothing about this. As does turning off on-demand patching and downloading the ENTIRE patch. Still errors out, eventually, even if not immediately. Not sure if something is getting corrupted DURING play, or whether a downloaded file is just COMING corrupted? Or old and new files are getting mixed and not integrating correctly? Who knows...?

Someone suggested deleting the texture .hogg files and then re-patching. He said it worked for several hours and then it randomly crashed again with the same decompressing texture error..

So, it sounds like they're aware of the issue and possibly working on it, despite not having responded to this thread... Or the other one(s) it's been mentioned on.

A little response would be nice from someone @ Cryptic letting us know where things are at with fixing whatever the issue is...

But, seriously, it would be nice if someone could resolve this issue. Lots of people seem to be having it.

So, to-date, we've tried (various suggestions from forum members):

1) Force verify. [Does nothing, continues crashing].
2) Delete .HOGG files, force verify, re-patch. [Seems to make the specific corrupted texture work again, but eventually you run across a DIFFERENT corrupted texture and have to repeat the process].
3) Uninstall AV, force verify, re-patch. [Same as 2) above].
4) Uninstall, delete all directories & all findable STO / Cryptic registry keys. Reinstall. Re-patch. [Plays for a while, but eventually runs across a corrupt texture and crashes again].
5) Same as 4 above, but install outside of Program Files, Program Files (x86). [Same results. May play for a while, eventually hits a corrupt texture and crashes].
6) Install on different HD. [Same issue, eventually hits random corrupt texture & crashes].
7) Run Launcher in "Administrator" mode (via right click), force verify, re-patch. [Still eventually hits bad texture & crashes].
8) Updated graphics drivers (had to roll back from 12.2 to 12.1 Radeon drivers since it corrupted the rendering, but that's a different issue).
9) Installed all Windows 7 updates.
10) Ran windows Chkdsk & Hitachi HD check tool [no errors found], Windows 7 memory test (no errors), BurnInTest Professional (no errors first time around), MemTest86 [a couple errors on, I think, test 7, moving memory blocks] and MemTest86+ [a few errors], BurnInTest [did come back with a couple memory errors the second time around]. MemTest86 & + don't output logs, as far as I can tell, so nothing to upload... However, don't have any other memory to switch out with and don't want to void mfg warranty on new machine less than 2 mos old. May consider taking it in to BestBuy to test memory if nothing obvious works, but not funding it uber-likely a brand new machine comes w/faulty memory that ONLY crashes STO, but nothing else?

So, yeah, issue needs attention, methinks... Not just us, as evidenced by the like 10-20 threads posted previously. Ours probably being the longest (12+ pages)?

I too am having this same issue. My computer is new with an ATI video card (did roll back the drivers already). My game has been running smooth since install. Until this last patch, now I get this error. I have tried all the above as well. I too am a "career officer" and would like a response ASAP. Thank you in a advance.

Anyone have any ideas, tips, or suggestions on how to stop this?

STO keeps crashing and freezing my system in game play. It just locks up the computer and freezes.

GFX drivers are up-to-date. Motherboard BIOS up-to-date. Ram checked for errors. HDD is good.
