Well it was very effective at quickly disposing of the most hardened targets. Maybe it was implemented to quickly put effective firepower on the enemy capital ships. Take out command and control in fleet actions / absolute beast in single engagements.

I'd actually prefer if we got 3 versions like with the other ships as well as 3 consoles making a set.

+ 5 Weapon Energy
(Making with the ships base stats + 10 Weap % Shields and 5 for Aux and Propulsion)

2P: Dreadnought Saucer Separation
3 P: 1 Minute Lance CD reduction

Each ship costing 2500; and a 5k bundle would exist.

(I doubt it will happen but it would be cool )
Yes very nice that would very much like but for the Boffs layout needs to have more then just 4

Lol the BOFF layout was meant for the Fleet retrofit; Though I wouldn't ask for mre even if we got the console variant I posted. 4 are more than enough if you use them wiseley and tbh Ensing universal would just annoy me

This is not the US navy, this is Star Trek.

Starships, big Cruisers. Big Phaser beams, torpedoes, bald Captains.
No jetfighters, Small (annoying) Gunships, Marines, Combat armor or Miniguns.... at least in "real" Star Trek...

Yeah its not like you engineers had a skill that buffs your energy levels to a poin where every mini resistance buff becomes imba... oh wait... you do.
(And it also adds a lot of dmage btw; )

Not to mention miracle worker and Remodulate Shield Frequency.
Sry but Cmdr + Lt are more than enough to survive as an engineer, and notably far before firing 'just two shots'

Another thing is that this ship is, by all rights, a war ship and should have seating like one.
You also pretty much ignored every part of his post stating that an engineer can even tank fine even in an escort as well as the part about APD giving increased dmg resist.
And yes those parts of his post are true, if you do it right you die ways after a tac with the same seating lol.

To sum it up - a Ltcmdr Slot doesn't hurt the ships survivability as much as you claim atm; One can argue whether its survivability gets changed at all, considering how two attack patterns got + dmg resistance. (Notably two which are not bound to tac toons ).
Engineers are btw still pretty hard to get down if they know what they are doing, even with a Lt Engineer slot - jsut look at all those Excelsior Engineers - they don't die as easily as you pretend either.

So for the lulz of it I threw my second tac character into the dreadnought, first flies the Bug, just to see what I could make this baby do. I'm fully spec'd for dps, outfitted all phaser XI purple consoles you can equip and jumped into pvp.

Now my findings were pretty surprising. This ship tanked and gave better support than my fleet excelsior. I tried DHC's up front knowing that when I'm not on an attack run i switch to full power to Aux for support. Then i tried 6 beam arrays for broadsiding ppl. The broadsiding worked better and ill tell you why.

The lance is completely and utterly useless! For something that is supposed to be a step above BO3 in terms of effectiveness I saw as much as a standard unbuffed beam array. It misses constantly but even when I connected and I mean connected with, APA TF FOMM TT APO3 EPTW GDF on a target with shields in the red who was tractored and SNB'd it barely did 5k in dps. And this is when it didn't miss completely!

The dreadnought should be renamed the USS Failboat. We need a fix to lance before the fleet version comes out or it will fail as well.

i rarely use the lance. in STFs i wait until the final enemy it tends to only hit targets that are stationary or are very slow sort of makes sense being a mounted rifle under the saucer. but i have had it miss a tac cube at point blank lol. apparently once it finally can separate the lance will turn into a pulse wave with an AOE arc
