Same here. I can't begin to count the number of times I've attempted to heal someone just for the target to swap a split second too early because there's a bloody To'duj Fighter buzzing my tail or something. I don't know if "infuriating" is too strong a word, but new UI elements or hotkey toggles would be very helpful in these situations.

And since someone mentioned Hazard Emitters earlier, I have the same problem there: going up against Borg or Romulans or anyone else who makes liberal use of plasma weapons means that if I have any aggro on me at all, I'm going to need that Hazard myself moments after I give it to someone else because the proc rate for plasma fires is beyond insane. That said, most of the time against Borg my ship is a glowing green torch anyway, so...

Now there's a visual effect that I'd like to see scaled down. Wouldn't that much fire on a ship roast the crew alive?

Whoever suggested hours long STFs should know that such a thing would make the missions unavailable for 90% of the players who simply do not have the time for such a long fight.

It is a problem also with the UI.

I used to play with a friend who had a cruiser, and my patrol escort tried to heal her ship, but the clumy UI often healed my totally fine ship instead.
And while I wasted long seconds to heal my undamaged ship, I was not dealing much damage.

He has to realize that not every escort has those available.

Doesn't disabling Select Auto Target On Attack from Options->Control->Space help with that?

I think he knows that too, but when you see others use them at an earlier stage of the STF, it's not such a big leap to assume the other one actually has them, right?

Wait, OP is complaining because while he sits out at 10km and I have to go to point blank range on a big ol' cheating Tac Cube that I don't bother to share my Tac Team because he installed a Threat Generator on his ship on purpose?

I'm sorry, but it will be a slow STF when I am even aware of what the other ships playing are as I try to avoid the Tac Cube's agro without Threat Consoles as it flings Invisioneshottorps and shield negators and Tractor beam III every few seconds at me.

Also, since no one in PUGs believes in the 10% rule that ALWAYS works anymore, I have to be ready to smash all the other generators and sometimes kill the Transformers while they are being healed by The Nanite Spheres.

I hope this wasn't pointed at Escort pilots because we are already way too busy.
If your post is anything like, "I have a sandwich so you can't be starving" it's time to rethink posting.

On rare occasions I do get in trouble. If I get a heal from a teamate that is great, but I am a little too busy to say thanks via chat, unlike fleet runs with mumble. I also don't expect a thank you when someone else gets caught in a firestorm only to be saved by my heals. I do that because its my nature. I do it because it's fun. I do it because it feels good.

You don't thank an Escort for doing lots of damage, do you?

As for heals, personally I do my best to throw them out when I can. But as a 'scort captain, my heals are limited and I kinda need them to recover from the whooping I take when four spheres all target me at once and I have to Evasive to safety.

The game certainly does by throwing the best rewards out to the high damage dealers.

No. I'm complaining as I buzz the big ol' cheating Tac Cube from a distance of 1km (range is a component of threat), taking all of its fire because I installed threat generators on purpose to make life easier for softer team mates, and then get whacked with back to back torpedoes that get through to my hull and cause crazy plasma DOTs and leave my shields down for the beams and heavy cannons that it follows up with, ... that nobody helps me out.

That sentence was terrible, but you get the idea.

If I'm the one taking all the damage, and everybody else is sitting there pounding away with their dual cannons without a care in the world, is it really too much to ask for a little help? Especially when it's your best interest to keep me as the enemy's primary target.

And I suppose there might be a few escorts out there that don't have hazard emitters, but are you also going to say that you don't have tactical team, science team, Aux2SIF, or TSS? (If you have NONE of these things, then it's no wonder I see so many escorts spontaneously explode the instant anything looks at them)
