aunixa's workaround didn't work for me. Maybe because I have an ATI card. I don't know.
Anyway, I got the game to start by adding the 'PrefEntry GfxSettings.Fullscreen 0' to the live/localdata/pref file.
Now to fix the other problems.
- No sound - no selectable sound output device.
- Lots and lots of distorted graphics. So far it's been most of the character selection screen, the minimap, loading screens etc.
- No anti-aliasing - sharp pixelated edges.
- The game fracks up, if I try to run it in 1920x1080 windowed (that works fine in Windows).
I also installed PhysX (via winetricks) on the off chance support was included in this version (and there is limited support in wine for it) as my video cards support that. I also added directX 9/10 via winetricks (in addition to the aforementioned ie6 and 7).
The patching worked.
System as follows:
Gentoo Linux (64 bit) running a desktop profile with wine as ~amd64
Currently using wine 1.2_rc2.
2 Quad-core Opteron 2378s (8 cpus total)
2 Nvidia GTX 275s with 896M video ram (connected via SLI interface)
Soundblaster X-Fi Gamer sound card
4 1TB drives in a raid 10 config
(various other crap nobody would care about including jfs - yes, I'm just that weird)
This configuration seems to work for me for the moment (yes, this is my desktop, no it's not a server), but it pretty much has to be in it's own WINEPREFIX directory. I have other games and didn't want this one with its whacky requirements to do harm to them.
