A bug that involved Romulan Liberated Borg captains and their skills once they chose an ally
I am a Sci Captain and like to (try to) DPS via debuff and some CC/drain.
Currently running a Chimera with 3x DHC Polarized Distruptors /turret build. My C-store Intrepid-R was just not getting it done.
I could also go Andorian or other c-store escort as Cryptic has decided it is the "only thing that is fun". But, I would like to stick with a Science ship if viable enough for Elite STF's.
Any help is much appreciated.

The Vesta is a fantastic ship. It can do the damage dealing layout you're looking for, while holding its own. The Cmdr Science seat can really help augment your science captain abilities.
I would go more indepth, if you are willing to share your current layout specifically, and your goals out of the ship.
get the tac version for the bonus tac console, and weapon power. or if you want the aux cannons to be of use, you can try the sci version for the bonus aux power, tho it wont make up for the loss of tac console anyway
for more check my 10k dps vesta thread
there is a 10k dps beam vesta on its way too, but its atleast a week or so until I get enough money for the equipment that needs be tested
Go for the Recon version even if you are using the Aux cannons. You will struggle a little to really get the power up there (my Aux sits at 124/100), but it's worth it for the extra tac console. I have a build that's heavy on offensive sci (all details here: http://www.stoacademy.com/tools/skil...=Secura04_2511) and despite the fact that I have yet to optimize my skill tree for it I'm doing 5-6k DPS depending on the parser (CombatLogParser says 5, ACT says 6). You should also be able to swap in any other offensive abilities you want there, depending on target and team, if you prefer something different. Unfortunately it does rely on the cannon doffs which are rather expensive now, without those you will lose a fair bit of DPS, although it's still perfectly viable for ESTFs (I forgot them for a whole STF once and still did fine). Do get the pack if you can though, because if you ever wanted even one more of the consoles (like for the slipstream) you'd pay for the full pack. (And note that I'm saying that despite the fact that the only one of the consoles I use in combat is the QFFC.)
Great info and insight guys. Thanks for the advice. I am going to respec to fit the ship anyway. My current build is not so relevant I have been ship hopping lately trying to find something I like.
It is sad though that my c-store Intrepid-R is so under powered next to an escort or destroyer. What the hell is Cryptic thinking these days?

I agree with the above. I bought the 3pack and ended up using the tactical version (damage is king, particularly with end game content).
