# 1 some vesta tips Appreciated
03-13-2013, 03:15 PM
Now, i havent played Sci/Sci since launch, where my Recon sci was dreaded in pvp (back when escorts ran away at the mere hint of a sci ship .. the good old days)

Im playing witht he vesta, and even though im certain its not optimised, its an awful lot of fun, oh how i missed Sci.

I could really use some pointers as im quite rusty.
Ship - Multimission Surveillance Explorer

The Spec
Tac
3/9/6/0/9
9/0/9/0/0
Eng
0/0/9/6/0
0/3/9/0/9
6/9/9/9/0
Sci
0/0/0/0/6
9/9/9/6/0

Boffs
LTCDR Uni - Tac - TT1 - THY2 - CRF2
Ens Uni - Sci - TB1
LT Tac - TT1 - CSV1
LT Engie - EPtS1 - EPtS2
CDR Sci - TSS1 - HE2 - SS2 - GW3

Current Boff Thinking is geared to Setting Grav wells, scrambling the hell out of them and getting chains set off the CRF and THY come in handy there, whilst im able to cycle TT's and EPtS to ensure Resists and facing shields are always strong.

Layout
Aux DHC's x2 Quantum Mk12 Purple in front
Phaser Turret Mk12 Purple x3

Using Borg Eng, Deflector and Shield MK XI (had these since they were quest rewards lol)
Eng Slots - Wave Function and quantum field Console
Sci - Fermion console, 3x Particle Generators MK XI Purple, 1x Field Generator
Tac - 2x Phaser Relay MK XI, Assimilated Console
Hangar - Advanced Peregrines (more for their torps than anything else)

Currently im still getting ACT fine turned and i need to get a good Tac Cube to pound on to get a good measure of DPS, in a fleet alert, i was getting well over 5k without trying.

Hints tips pointers, feel free to share, its been a while since i was in a sci boat (missed the evil fun that could be had ina well setup sciboat)

Thanks in advanced

EDIT forgot power levels
60/45
66/40
53/25
125/90

Running full efficient crew etc

Since this is a vesta tips thread, can I ask some advice too?

Is the three pack worth it? Or is it better to just get the one?

In my opinion the pack is worth because you get a superlaser ability, a AoE healing ability and a "screw you B'rels" ability (pulse feedback but kinetic) and with all 3 consoles you get a "I am invulnerable" shield, even you cannot fire anything (only Ramming speed works, you can skill heal and use powers but not firing weapons) its also 100% invulnerable, unlike the Generator that 95%.

The consoles are very good and very diverse, the set power is rather unique but it does make the Vesta the fastest ship in the game at Transwarp, allowing you to get a extra race or two during the event.

I think the superlaser and AoE healing ability are well worth the price so its 5000 zen, you might as well get the whole pack.

Ok, the first thing you want to do is dump the torp for another Aux DHC, I ran the numbers on this at one point and the torp is at best 800 DPS, while the Aux DHC is closer to 1000 (and with no skill in torps you're nowhere near that 800). Then, if you want to keep the LtC tac (I use sci, but pretending to be an escort is probably more effective in PvE) put in an APB instead of the THY. I'm not crazy about SS or Tractor, but if you find them effective you can keep them (Energy Siphon is a pretty good one if you want to change something up, and Tyken's Rift will at minimum eliminate the HY Plasmas the Borg cubes like to throw around).

I would also drop one of the Particle Generators, move the Assimilated Console, and put in a third Phaser Relay, it's basically never a good idea to give one of those up. Look into the Elite Scorpions when you can, the plasma bleedthrough alone is more powerful than most other fighter types, and the 7k HY torp they'll throw when they spawn or every couple minutes is also very nice. And while you're at it, you definitely want the Zero Point Energy Conduit, the extra crit is too good to pass up.

Finally, if you're thinking about a respec, I would drop all the power skills to 6 levels (more just isn't significant, try out this: http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/sh...d.php?t=532731) and put the saved points into Structural Integrity and Graviton Generators, and probably dump some Sensors for Power Insulators as well.

This is a great response and I agree 100%. I am able to tank Tactical Cubes on my own in my Vesta with all three consoles on-board. It has come in very handy at keeping Andorian Escorts alive and sometimes that "Super Gamera" ability just pisses everyone off. I use it with the impulse capacitor to break contact in really bad situations.
