Actually, they've stated [in] a couple of interviews, only the impending May Update [is] NOT being called a Season (as in their mind, it's bigger than a normal 'Season Update'); and that they [might] go back to calling an Update a 'Season' again, depending on intent/size.

Reason: "may" changed to "might" so it was not confused with the month.
will it continue or will they just rename and reskin it to battlestar? i jest i jest ;-)
but yea seems a good way to wiggle out of certain promises stahl made since the beginning of time XD on a technicality this ain't season 8 so they are under no obligations to do what they said they would bodes ill for crafting/pvp/balance
coming soon TM! est delivery-when the hell we feel like it!
Hey, most of the series only made it to seven seasons anyway, so it would be fitting. STO will obviously continue on, so might as well call the massive updates something else.
"Feature Films"? (We're up to 10 of those )

I still think there's no reason to change the naming scheme for their major updates (and code syncs) just because this one is 'really big.' It's only going to lead to confusion by calling it anything other than Season 8, and especially if the December update goes back to being called a season.
To the devs: just say this is the biggest season release STO has ever had. Problem solved.
