Nadion would be somewhat more useful if it was not only merged with EPS to provide power boost+resistance, but was also transferable. As for DEM, making it an Engineer Captain skill would give them something of a direct damage skill and by extension, would help out cruiser captains by giving them an offensive skill without having to give up the highly useful Lt Cmdr and Cmdr Engineering for it.
DEM is rather weak and hardly worth it by comparison to NI. Also you do realize that NI actually does more than just keep your weapons power maxed right? It stops enemies from draining your power and even lessons the effect of things like Tachyon beam on your shields. (I know it does not matter when players use their super nerfed Tickle Beam version but the Borg version still works.)

Even with an Aux2Bat build, DEM doesn't do enough bleedthrough damage to make it worthwhile, especially on a cruiser. Any decent build nowadays have at least some sort of self-heal ability, whether it be HE, ET, Aux2SIF, etc.

The only time DEM is actually useful is if you put it on a DHC escort and kick it up to finish an opponent that throws up the "oh sh*t button" RSP Boff ability.

nadion is my fav option on an engineer........Goof ole borg shield drains are negated or any shield loss due to drain. I does love it....i use it in conjuntion with broadsides to maximize my dps potential because I am not loosing muh power...OR on my ships that have special abilities like the lotus thingee...I dont loose as much...

It is quite fine the way it is...
Napoleon's final defeat came at Waterloo. Must've been embarrassing. You're the f'ing emperor. You conquered all of Europe, only to lose in a place with a stupid name like Waterloo. Or Watergate, or Whitewater. Note to politicans: Stay on land.

Now days you can get "straight to hull" damage through a passive in the Rep system. That makes DEM even more useless because that proc can be more deadly.

You are 100% right about DEM though. It deals so pathetically little damage that unless you are firing it on a serious cannon rapid fire barrage and stack on other DoT's and direct to Hull damage even the natural regen is likely to overwhelm DEM. You are FAR better off just getting their shields down and plugging them with a death shot from a Torp like everyone else does.

DEM is actually not a really good skill, since you have to overcome shields when its used up. So why not use every bit of power of your beams to break through instead of doing laughably damage through them?

I like Nadeon Inversion; if it last a bit longer and had a shorter cool-down then it'd be perfect as it allows engineering captains to fire a full beam broadside with negligible power drain. I currently like to use it along with emergency power to weapons before firing a beam overload; it results in no discernible impact on my other weapons, alongside a hefty chunk of damage from a dual beam bank.

No thanks. DEM is worthless for me and NI is quite useful, even on such a long cooldown.

Problem is DEM only works really good for tac captains maxing their crit bonuses out and with DHC, so its really only for KDF battlecruisers or escorts with Lt Cmdr Eng.

I'm fairly sure that Nadion Inversion ONLY works on energy. As for the Borg draining power, that is suitably counteracted by simply putting 3 ranks into Power Insulators skill.

If anyone has read the first post, I did not say anything about removing it completely. I said that its effects should be combined with EPS Transfer. In hindsight, I probably should have made the topic title "Merge EPS Transfer with Nadion Inversion".
