I've recently run some Hive Elites and I've noticed that the Borg Queen's ship doesn't ever seem to be choosing targets based on their threat levels - she actually seems to prefer attacking pets/mines/escorts/sci ships rather than tank cruisers and even if she eventually targets me (usually when a teammate gets one-shotted) she shortly (after 2-3 shots/skill uses) switches to another target. I've even seen her immediately switch target when someone gets back into range after respawning. Other NPCs (for example Donatra in KASE) seem to properly choose targets based on threat levels. It's hard enough to tank in this game without "real tanking skills" found in other MMOs... Is this kind of behavior intended by the devs or is it a result of "overdoing" her AI?

Sounds sensible to me. If I were her, I'd be doing that, too. Are you seriously saying you WANT stupid enemy AI?

All of her powerful attacks are multi-target or AoE anyway. Torpedo spread, feedback pulse, aceton assimilator... She's not the type of enemy you're meant to tank.

I would rather have non-cheating AI, reminds of older BioWare bosses that were invulnerable to about everything under the sun and hit like a Mack truck.

I suppose she would perhaps not be so bad except when she comes up we already beaten half a dozen Tactical Cubes and a couple of powered up Unimatrix ships, at that point I am sick and tired of the damn thing that dragged too long, likely got cheap shooted a few dozen times because STO cannot into render and I am not some Ubermensch that can keep track of half a dozen ships at the same time all the time.

Simply put, cheating boss with no vulnerabilities ... even I can do that, too bad I cant.

(Apparent the forums cannot into German either)

I haven't said that i want her to be as weak as Cubes or other NPCs... I just want to make sure that the fact it's impossible to reliably tank her (by tanking I mean making her attack me rather than someone else) is a "game feature". And I'd be glad to see more difficult NPCs introduced into the game (by difficult I don't mean 200k torpedo dmg dealers...) but it would be nice if the devs remembered about the MMO trinity... because atm there's no point and, even worse, no need for tanking and specialised healing. And I've got a gut feeling that it's not going to change in May, though HSE seems to be a step in the right direction.

The Queen's Diamond is not a ship you want to straight out tank. She's a ship from hell. Her power levels are all 125, and her crew count is in the millions. Your best bet is not to tank her outright, but to CC her as much as possible. Full torp builds (preferably plasma and transphasic) are useful here, in addition to polaron weapons, tyken's rift, energy siphon, and viral matrix. Aceton beams/plasmonic leech/aceton assimilators are also very good here. You basically just want her gimped as hard as possible for as long as possible.

Ironically enough, this is where sci shines the brightest. SST is your friend here. Combine that with drains and the occasional VM + sub-nuke, and you're gold.
It is said the best weapon is one that is never fired. I disagree. The best weapon is one you only have to fire... once.
Tired of Wasting EC and Time trying to get Superior Romulan Operative BOffs? Here's a cheap and easy way to get them, with an almost 100% chance of success.

After a few runs you will eventually learn that she is a nice little kitty to play with. Normally, the Unimatrix ships are superior in offense, since they can kill you with BO, their Plasma Bold or, my favorite, since the other two are avoidable, a torpedo-spread&Subnuke-Combination, which is pretty effective, given that you wont have any counter if staying to close to it.

I think its threat-control is working as intended. It makes it a real boss, not some random low npc like tac cube or donatra(letter only landing a lucky hit sometimes).

Since when borg was suspendable to confusions/fake threat targetting? If somebody would be immune to those, borg should. also yes, queen uses faw, spread and other abilities so it doesnt mater who she shoots at..
Say the word, it saves the world.

It works just fine if your "tank" does damage. And not shoot tribbles against the borg.

A question to this. How do you know that? Is there a database or so, which shows npc ship power levels, skills, etc. ?
