I have played a few MMO but I am new to STO and loving it. My secret is to stay out of the forums to avoid the Debbie downers.
I am old enough to have watched TOS and every other series as they aired on TV. I normally wouldn't join a fleet/guild but Delta Recruitment is a brilliant idea and if its designers want me to join a fleet I will give it a try.
I have been reading through the forum posts both here and on the individual fleet websites. So far all fleets have required and seem to enforce common sense and common courtesy from their members. That is a very good sign but makes it difficult to pick one.
Is there a fleet just for old people? I will look around some more then ask my computer to randomly select one.
allow me to extend you an invitation to alpha battle squadron.
there are no hoops to jump through, no forms to fill out, no websites to sort through to join.
we are as casual as casual can get, no drama, no politics, just about having fun
we are always looking for good folks to help out with the holdings
just send me an in game mail and I send you the fleet invite.
its that simple
I don't know about old people, but if you want a with an inclusive, welcoming membership, look no further than Starfleet Dental. With some of the most seasoned (and competent) players in the game -- and one of the first fleets ever established on STO -- we take great pride in elevating new players in both PvE and PvP. We regularly hand out high-tier gear to new players in order to help them along (ec is always tight when you're new), and don't ever worry about acquiring end-game ships -- we have them all, and will gladly give one to any new recruit that completes their probationary period.
Please contact me, @nabreeki, or @railrokh, in-game for more information. We'd be glad to have you aboard!

Hey Grisdon! Directive 010 is a fantastic casual community with common sense guidelines. We don't have an age limit and we're not just for old people, but we do have a fair amount of older members. You can look at our forums at Directive010.com to see if we are a good fit for you.
