No thank you. Feddies are doing well enough without cloaks. Usually the people complaining Fed-side are either incompetent or greedy. . .though not always. They have a solid quad of ship classes (sci, escort, cruiser, and 1-2 carriers), and plenty of options in all but carriers. They don't need cloaks, a competent team of Federation PvPers can negate the first-strike advantage of the cloak, and a competent PvPer can usually fend off the decloak ambushes from BoPs lurking about.

I like to think the cloak is one of the things keeping PvP somewhat even (that, and a few other things), especially in places like Ker'rat. The same will apply to the Romulans. The fact that there's a canon backing to those factions having cloaks is just fortunate happenstance

While I wish the game were robust for a true third (and fourth and fifth) faction, I think this solution is for the best.

It will presumably give federation teams the ability to PvP with battle cloak without breaking canon and giving federation characters one of the main selling points of the KDF.

The FEDs don't need to ask the Romulans for a cloaking device. They developped one that is better than anything Klingons or Romulans have. The interphasic cloaking device. I'm sure the schematics are still somewhere around.

If Fed players demand a general cloak for Federation vessels, I can only say from the view point of the story line of the game, they are right.

In canon Star Trek, the Federation was always a peace keeping, defensive and protective alliance between mutiple species.

In STO, the Federation seem to be completly ruled by an agressive and military oriented Starfleet command, behaving like an warmonger faction. They mass murder civilians, raid outposts and behave merciless. When I played the fed episodes, from level 1 to 30 I killed more people than Starfleet has ever killed in all Star Trek movies/series in total. Starfleet in STO do not show the high moral and ethic as in canon, but are agressive, merciless and expansive oriented.

Therefore, it is only reasonable, that Feds get cloak - an tool purley develop as an attack weapon. Because the federation is also very advanced in biogenetic, they should of also get access to biogenetic weapon technology able of mass destruction - something like virus grenades or shield penetrating virus-torpedos killing the complete crew of ships would be an great addition to any federation weapon locker. Sounds non-Trek? Why? The Feds already use bioneural topedos, so what ...

However, since I was always a Fan of the canon Federation showing a very highly developed moral, and thats main goal is to explore and research and not to destroy and kill, I refuse to play an merciless Starfleet captain, ruthlessly slaughter his way through everything.

Thanks, no.

If by "better" you mean that in 50% of the cases we saw its use, it killed the crew...yeah.

Any negotiations would have to be examined from a Romulan perspective, not a Federation one. As the lesser power sandwiched between two greater powers attempting to court both it wouldn't happen.

The very idea of presenting this information would be an attempt at destabilizing the balance of power and clearly an act of war. Klingons are recognized as an aggressive military power who would react unfavourably to such provocation. As nice as it would be to imagine gallant Feddies swooping in to save their Romulan buddies from the mean KDF it couldn't happen fast enough. Precious New Romulus would be bombed into the stone age. Divisions and intelligence initiatives among the three factions make the possibility of covert delivery of these systems unlikely and the potential for clandestine mass production ridiculous.

Not much to be gained for the Romulans other than getting burned, paved and painted black. Maybe the Feds would get some delicious cloaks on vessels with U.S.S. designations but wouldn't be of much value to the dead Romulans.

If there is an argument that posture of the Federation has changed and they would resort to extortion or strongman tactics dealing with the Romulans it would only send them packing to the KDF. No move is in the best interest of the Romulan people. If it make you feel any better it would be entirely appropriate for the Romulans to feign negotiations for cloak delivery to placate the happy Feddies but really you're only be strung along.

Not to mention that after that turd Picard gave that technology to the Romulans, even they failed to make it work right.

Given what the Federation President said in "The Path to 2409", that the Romulans are a new people and the the Federation would continue to work towards peace...well it might mean the Romulans will demand that the Federation continues to honor the treaty in exchange for this alliance.
