I was reading the Tribble Server patch notes for April 3rd and I noticed that they are changing the nature of ships which can separate into pieces with combat pets (mvae, saucer seps, escort launching, etc).

Up until now, killing a separated ship would force it to respawn re-docked with a 10 minute cooldown before they could separate again.

The change will allow for separated ships to remain separated (even if destroyed), until the player decides it is time for them to reconnect. The separated combat pets will respawn along side the ship.

The biggest impact I can see this having on PvP is that the Multi-vector Assault Module will allow for a permanent beta-mode advanced escort to participate in matches. Most of the JHAS players I've spoken to so far are not happy with there suddenly being a better-turning escort available for play in PvP (even if the JHAS has a better BOFF layout and better survivability).

For those, like me, who do not fly a JHAS: the initial response has been approval (mostly because we like to see the JHAS players rage and cry). However, after giving it some thought, I am starting to wonder if having 2-3 hard to kill beta-mode ships in each PvP will be any better.

What do people in the PvP community think about this potential change?

I think it's fine personally. Up until now saucer sep type consoles have been an expensive gimmick, a waste of console space. Now they'll actually be worthwhile and breath new life into ships such as the Gal-R (which at the moment is "blow that ship up once and we'll have an easy target for 5 minutes").

How's it any different than having 2-3 bugs on a team now? Nobody gave an f when it was turning into bug trek online; atleast now it will be bugs and Beta mvae's Varieties always good, right? Especially when you don't have to shell out 500 dollars for it.

Because you only shell out 30 bucks for it, it can (and sorta will) be everywhere.

Not that I mind. Beta Prometheus have always been a PAIN to heal, and so with all the nerfs to cruiser healing so far I'd not think it as a huge problem.

After all, good turning is only a part of the OP conundrum. The bug still has everything else.

Solution: Stick the MVAE console on a mirror patrol escort.

Gee you just traded the extra stats and console for a boff layout.

I always run with torpedoes to deal with acetons, so I find that I have enough boff slots for myself.

What nerfs to cruiser healing are you talking about...?
If you feel Keel'el's effect is well designed, please, for your own safety, be very careful around shallow pools of water.

You cant be serious can you? To bring this up even, if anything they shoulve removed that rediculous cooldown a long time ago for PvP's sake. Even without it it doesnt go up against a JHAS.
