I customised my ship's look on earth spacedock, clicked save, but when I beamed back up to the ship it still looked like the default hull. What am I doing wrong?

Hitting save just saves the template so you can load it and use it on the same ship on another character. You need to click purchase to make the actual changes.

Hi again,

I tried to customize my ship again last night, I am only doing the free customizations, I changed the look of my ship, But the purchase button is greyed out so I cant click on it
I clicked on save and it said "outfit saved" But when I went into space the ship was the same as b4

Did you have enough money (or Zen) to pay for the costume change?

Some of the costumes only unlock when you purchase certain c-store or fleet ships. If you're trying to modify an Akira, you can choose parts from the c-store Thunderchild for example, which costs 1.000 Zen. If you choose one of those costume parts and you don't have enough Zen, the "purchase"-button will be greyed out.

Even if it's not Zen, there's an EC cost for changing that stuff. It's low, usually just a few thousand, but if it's a new character you might not have enough. You get a free change with a new ship, but you can accidentally waste it without making any changes, and it doesn't cover bridge changes, which can cost more EC than the rest of the ship.

It shows the cost and will highlight anything you can't afford in red.

with the ":free customizations" you cannot change the bridge. if you are trying to change the bridge you will have to pay for the bridge change, the rest of the changes are free.

You only get a free customization option once with the assignment of each ship, save doesn't actually change anything, it just saves your preferences, even if it's currently free you still have to purchase your changes for them to actually be made, customizations usually don't cost Zen unless you are choosing components of a C-Store ship that you haven't already purchased, but customizations will cost Energy Credits if you've already exhausted your 1st free customization of that ship. There are no free customizations for Bridges and Interior Layouts which usually cost EC but there are bridge packs that do cost Zen. Usually if the Purchase button is greyed out it means either you've made no changes or you don't have enough Energy Credits or Zen to purchase that customization and the amount of currency lacking will be highlighted in red.

Oooops!!! Cyberpunk <----- idiot

I worked out my problem, I was indeed trying to customize the look of my ship with one of the options that costed Zen, but I did not realise..doh. As I have no Zen, this was the reason the purchase button was greyed out all sorted now. Thanks for help all the same.
