This is only a slightly worse idea then the WoW ammo system, that required one and only one class to carry several stacks of items with them or else be unable to do pretty much anything...

Having to go back to ESD to buy crew does not make the game better. It does nothing to improve the game, doesn't improve immersion, doesn't make the game more challenging, ect...

The only thing this would accomplish is make people waste time using Transwarp to go back to ESD for a few minutes every day.

And it took awhile to do away with the Ammo system in WoW

While it may make sense in "immersion" wise but it doesn't much sense in terms of gameplay. Why need to keep running back to base (with transwarp DOES have a cooldown) after each fight? Why do we have sickbay? Can you imagine how bad any combat will be after the first few minutes? (i.e. your crew get reduce by an attack and cannot get anymore and running a ship with 1 person)

Crew needs to be left alone. There's no way to make it workable. If they do they'll break more things in the code. Just leave it alone. And pretend it doesn't exist. The game is better off for it. You keep pushing this crusade and Cryptic will do something about crew. BUT, here's where the shorsigthedness bites us all in the bottom. They'll do what Cryptic does. Not what you want. Not what any of us want. What they put out will be a mangled mess that none of us like making the game less enjoyable.

Don't believe me? Think of all those fans of Picard and TNG who wanted to be starfleet diplomats. We got the diplomacy system. What did it end up being? Take a jumja stick to Memory Alpha and scan plants on exploration missions.

Think of all those Tomalak and Sela fans who wanted to be part of the Romulan Star Empire. What are we getting? Farmboy space elves who choose Fed or KDF to side with.

Stop picking at this thread. Leave it be.

Then you might want to change your signature since it might end up being hauled as garbage.

It'd be more realistic, but it's a bad idea in terms of gameplay. Given how prevalent space combat is, you'd literally have to go and get new crew after every fight (unless the crew-loss modifier is reduced).

Yes, and I never understood why anyone felt having it was a good idea. Yet when I played people were constantly defending the ammo system. Normally they were people who didn't play hunters of course.

But they seemed to feel that not having it would somehow dumb down the game and make it easier. As if having some items in your inventory was a serious challenge.

This idea is much the same...

It's not even more realistic. Injured crew in a starship can be treated by the med staff and short of some very, very rare conditions, get care as good as any place in the Federation. Actual crew death at least in TNG was semi-rare, even for extras. It happened, but not every episode, even in TOS you didn't see red shirts dying every episode.

that must have been back during closed beta. ever since i'vre been playing in open beta/headstart there was never no crew purchasing system.

Last I checked Romulans don't tag it's the Klingons and StarFleet who are running like Gophers while the Romulans stand around drinking Ale.
