Bye-Bye. One less impatient guy who thinks the devs owe him a finished product in beta..

If you define stuttering as running (or flying) forward and suddenly you're a little back from where you thought you should be... that's a lag issue, not a graphics issue. If it was a graphics issue, it would happen non-stop throughout the game. These types of issues instead tend to happen for awhile, then go away for awhile, then come back and again go away. That's lag.

That said, there *are* issues with nVidia's newer drivers and this game. *nVidia* is fixing the problem on THEIR end, just like ATI is fixing the AA issue on their end. Just because a game finds a flaw of some sort in a driver doesn't make it the game's fault. It's really up to the graphics company to fix the driver issue rather than the game company to create a workaround.

I have a GeForce 220 and 95% of the time, I get absolutely no "stuttering," however there are times when I do see it, but it doesn't last long. And I can actually reproduce this myself by just using a lot of upload bandwidth with a torrent or whatever... same exact effect, which proves lag/connection problems causing it.

Cryptic don't make drivers. Nvidia will optimize the newest drivers when the game is released.

As for ATI, I think this falls in cryptics court as I heard some ATI problems are pretty major.

Also, I get flashing loading screens. It hurts my eyes! I'm running nvidia

# 24 No problems here

I'm a GTX260 user and i'm having no graphics problems at all on max settings though I have dropped anti-aliasing to 4X as I thought the auto detected 16x was pushing it a bit.

Only problems i'm encountering is rubberbanding which is usually due to server load and the beam down/up bug where it loads the wrong image in the wrong place i.e (my ship on the transporter pad at K7, then me in space with no ship, made me laugh, but something to fix)

Other than that this is an excellent game a bit of a diamond in the rough atm but thats beta, cant wait for release awesome job!

I have a GEForce 8800 GT and have had no issues with CO and no real issues with STO until yesterday. What happened yesterday was network related I'm almost sure of it. I got on today and played for a very short while and it was back to normal. So, as far as a GEForce 'issue' I personally have none. It even has the most recent drivers.

Clearly you lack the patience to report bugs and wait for the fix. Request to resign accepted, step aside when ready.

One other note in addition to what I already said about lag and connection issues being the problem... You can have really high framerates and still have connection lag.

I played the beta a good portion of the day yesterday and noticed both problems at different points of the day.

When I first fired up the client, if I remember correctly, it applied a patch. When I got into the game I noticed a significant amount of stalling. It was if every second or so, the game would momentarily lock up, and then catch back up. At first, I thought this might be network latency because my Mozy was trying to do a backup in the background, albeit at a limited bandwidth that shouldn't have interfered like that with STO. I was able to somewhat remedy this by going into the Troubleshooting section of the video settings and there were a couple of settings towards the top of that section that I think I turned on. I don't recall what they were right now, I'd have to look, but the names of the options were clearly related to each other somehow. This seemed to smooth out the stalls. I'm running a Quad-Core AMD with a Nvidia GTX280.

As for the rubberbanding, I was getting a little frustrated by that later in the day, but understand it's latency of some kind, although I have a pretty decent connection at home (1.5 megabit). I hope this will be improved as the beta period goes forward.

Still think I'm impatient? I don't think so. CO and STO share the same exact engine. CO and STO still stutter majorly with nVidia cards while on away missions or in starbases. Cryptic's only "solution" is to use 6 month old drivers, which for most pc gamers is not an option.

This is not happening to "most" Nvidia users. That is an exaggeration. As with most other posts like this in this forum and in Champions Online forum, there will be a boat load of folks that will post their NVIDIA specs and say "everything fine here" (even though folks are much more likely to complain about a problem then to post that everything works).

These symptoms are most likely a result of a combination of variables that are unique to particular hardware configurations (and yes, Nvidia GPU's and the newer drivers are common variables in most cases), it appears to be a latency issue related to when new textures/models are loaded in to video memory (this occurs on the fly in the engine used in Champions and STO). This is not a simple issue and will likely take a lot of time to resolve. There are simply too many other issues that effect MOST people that need to be fixed first.
