I want to see the ability to quickly pivot a starship on its axis so as to bring your best weapon to bear on the enemy to counter faster ships trying to get on your bad side. TM3 could spin an Odyssey around 360 degrees in say 4 seconds, 3.5 sec for a Galaxy, and 3 sec for a Galaxy Dreadnought. This spin on its axis can be activated at a full stop or full impulse. So a full impulse Dreadnought could fly past its target, hit TM3, and quickly spin around to fire off its lance and its inertia would have it burning off its speed while flying backwards. Give it a fair cooldown, and this could be a fun tactical addition to slow turning cruisers. The maneuver wouldnt automatically spin your ship, it would wait for input from your left or right keys and be active for 6 seconds after engaging it. Its up to the helm officer how many degrees of rotation you actually yaw the ship, maybe just a quick 90 or 180 degrees is all you need.

As much as the addition of Shelton Slides would make me happy, ponderous cruisers are not the ships to give them to.

Pretty much. The original posters idea is interesting, I rather like the general idea.

Exactly, but you know the fedbears aren't gonna react kindly when HET hits them with a breakdown.

All three of those ships have the same turn rate. So why does your idea have them affected differently? That's absolutely bogus slanting it towards the Dreadnought. Why?

I never got an Odyssey, so I didnt know her turnrate was the same. I just figured that big whale shouldnt spin as fast as a smaller sized Galaxy. I figured the Dreadnought could make use of that third nacelle and help it spin faster. The Odyssey would still spin 90 deg a second. Maybe they could all spin faster, I was just ballparking those numbers. The bigger cruisers should have extra warp core power for that power flux spin move. And again I said give it a cooldown, so Escorts are still out maneuvering us 99% of the battle.

As a zero axis spin ability I like it. Give an effect that scales in relation to a ships enertia rating so Cruisers can spin like a top but still do arcing turns the same and Escorts and the like would get less effect based on thier enertia rating.

I still think it may be a feasable way to overcome the cruisers complaint of "I cant rotate a shield facing quick enough".
