It's a step in the right direction, but still extremely heavily-biased towards...for lack of a more tactful word, myopic play.

I spent a good chunk of last night and this afternoon experimenting with different builds and approaches to CE, all the way from pure healing, through the variety of CC's, to pure damage. The only time I actually placed was when I equipped out and played like the biggest jackass I could imagine within my limited means as a player: a skittle escort with dual transphasics and the Breen set, completely ignoring adds and other players, to DPS the CE nonstop while taking the shockwave (and I blew up twice to boot).

You say "instead of people try again or harder", well answer me this, how do we know how do people know where to improve with the new system?

In the old system, it was straightforward - more DPS via gear or switching to an Escort. But what do we do with the new system? What are cruisers supposed to do? What are science ships supposed to do?

i got first in my eng in a gal-r. i was dropped to 3% hull about 4 times int he event and was keeping escorts alive i know it was not for my DPS as that ship only does about 5k-6k

My alt with a Vo'Quv Carrier garbage scow with below subpar equipment and badly tuned ability bar layout that spent the entire mission flying around trying to not get killed managed to get first place while my main with a saber fleet refit with a bunch of MK XII VR equipment Omega rep equipment could manage 3rd at best, I though that was a bit funny. I'm not quite sure what's affecting placement yet, it seems a bit unintuitive.

can people call a system where "skittle cruisers" ( taste the rainbow!) with mk 10 common gear ( i did ask) and being a science ( they do no damage, and cant heal(or maybe only this guy)) get first while a tactical officer with mk 12 purple gear and dhc's get 3th fair?

i dont think so.

if someone who hits 300/450 damage range "outgun"someone who does 2500 damage,each normal pulse, crits around 34,00, it isnt fair, i kept him alive by throwing my heals on him,so you guys cant tell me he deserve the first place, i'm not saying ideserve it either, but this is just weird,i got a first place in my oddessy cruiser on an engineer alt,who did mid range damage,while there where some escorts next to me who did double the amount i did.

nope its broken,so repair it, or re-implent the old system again.

( again, i'm not saying i deserve the 1st place,before people start trolling and whining like the little bitches they are sometime's,its just that this cant be right at all.)

It's a hell of a lot more fair than the old "dps to win" system. I got second place in a healboat keeping my teammates in top shape and I only ever poked the CE with a six beam broadside and some Hargh'pengs and no DEM, EPtW, or any Engie power management skills.

I'd be willing to bet that if you don't place in the present system, it's more likely others had better builds than you than it is that the system is unfair.

Its been a while but I recall from playing RIFT that during a dynamic Rift event each player would have a UI element that showed a visual representation of how far along their interactions where bringing them towards hitting different reward levels. Every time you did something constructive the bar filled up a little more and waned when you didn't, or spent too much time killing the previous wave's spawns and not the newer challenge.

I don't recall if only one person got a first place prize, probably not, but perhaps the concept of being able to see how the actions the player makes (be they damage, healing, or mitigation of self or for others) contribute to raising that 'contribution bar' is something the content team could explore?

I always found myself adapting to what I should be doing more or better at while I'm doing it than looking at a potentially misleading stat panel after the fact.

It wouldn't need fixed thresholds to be designed either. Have them dynamically change according to the top contributors of damage, healing and mitigation in the event. That way you know if your doing half the damage of the top damage dealer, one third the healing of the highest healer, and that you are currently top of the mitigation side of self and/or team support.

I can be first with a fed beam cruiser and i've been 3rd once with my kdf tac/escort.

Carriers clearly have an advantage, since scorpions will help them scoring, but if you play smart enough you will just be 1st no matter what ship you fly.

I did none of that and still got first...to each their own.

Why would I take the shock wave for when there is no DPS when the Crystal is absorbing everything and its 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1...that's when I attack the Tholions while its doing its charging. When it's done I go back to shooting it, and healing the players who think it's better to keep shooting it when it's not.

If pure healing is not working, and pure DPS is not working....Then why not try both you get points for both...sometimes you're in a team of pros sometimes you're not...just try again.

You made a thread saying that Cryptic screwed everyone by making it DPS only, but that was not the case and now you're asking for Cryptic to give the accolade to everyone for just showing up....so the DPS was not working, so Cryptic changed it...but apparently you're not that good of a healer, so now you just want it for showing up.

Cryptic did listen to not make CE only DPS, so maybe they will listen and bring the leader bored back.

I will say the gear prize is strange I got 3rd and got a MK XI Antiproton Mag regulator , got first and got a MK X Biofuntcion monitor

but I'm not in it for the gear
