Good information. It seems while hull resistance works on the law of diminishing returns, shield resistance works on the law of increasing returns (snowball effect). It would seem like slightly raising the base resistance given by the shield power subsystem and using a straight line appreciation model would work much better. It would better allow all emergency power abilities to compete for their place in a build. The proposed changes to cooldown mechanics seems to pretty much kill damage control builds (mainly engineer/cruiser builds). I still agree with them that it should not be necessary to have a power up 100% of the time, I'm not sure about the way that they are approacing it though.

STO has a diverse group of players with a wide range of expectations and playstyles. To that end the STO team should endeavor to create a variety of content with a diverse set of difficulty levels and challenges. Cake for everyone!
