Priority One Episode 123 -- The Trouble With Tribble

Quote:
Hello Captains and welcome to Priority One's 123rd episode, recorded on Thursday, April 11th, 2013 and published on Monday, April 15th, 2013 at PriorityOnePodcast.com!!!

After James' bad Star Wars pun last episode, we've banished him to the depths of Hoth and this week the bridge is manned by Tony and Elijah. We wish James all the best, and suggest that the inside of a Tauntaun might be the best place on those cold, cold nights. We have a lot to cover in this week's show! In Trek It Out we have another prediction come true. In this week's STO News we cover the latest Spotlight on the Foundry, and some changes made on Tribble that are causing Foundry authors to frown, the latest Guest Blog on Skill Planning, Season Seven, Dev Blogs Fourty-three and Fourty-four, Legacy of Romulus Blogs Three and Four and the details of the Crystalline Catastrophe event. Next, we head into field notes to discuss the appalling behaviour of one member of the STO Community and the devastation it caused to Caspian Division fleet, and what you can do to increase your fleets security before finally opening up hailing frequencies to review your incoming messages.

Remember, Captains, all the submissions we receive for our show will be entered into this month?s random drawing for 1,000 ZEN -- this includes comments on our website and emailed segment topics!

I only heard a little bit what happened to Terrilynn's fleet recently, but didn't know the details until today.

It might not be much, but I like to offer my Sort-of Tier 3 Fleet as a temporary base until PW can get Caspian their home back - lock, stock, and barrel.

And I still can't understand why Cryptic named the Romulan BoPs the T'liss. The novels said it was the holo-drone ship that Tucker and Reed tried to sabotage, not the Romulan BoPs.

Meh, sometimes I just wonder about Cryptic changing things. I mean they named the Patrol Escort the Hermes and the Vo'Quv skin the VoD'leh. Names fans already assocate with canonica (or semi-canonical) ships.

But that's me.

In the novels, the TOS Romulan BOP was actually called the Bird of Prey class and a novel featured the class ship. Honestly, I really don't know why they called it the T'Liss.

I have no problems with the Hermes, since it is more than a generation since the TOS Hermes. I do agree with the VoD'Ieh, that should've been the Negh'Var variant.

About the security issue the details are a little vague.

You say the fleet leader got hacked but it was really one of his friends who found out his password?

As a fleet leader he has to be smart enough to actually lead.
If it was some backdoor commandline or whatever game glitch that made it possible to walk into people's fleet and take over it would be another matter.

Just listened to the show...

Whoa, whoa, whoa. We need to back up the wagon train here. First, I feel bad for the, was it Caspian Fleet? I do, and I'm glad they are lifting their heads high to find some resolve. However, from my understanding, and agreeing with the above poster, there was no hacking done here. This was a case of a very foolish, and irresponsible Fleet Commander. Let justice be done, though the heavens fall, on the one who took advantage of the fleet, but the one who allowed this to happen should be punished equally, as well.

The only way this can be prevented is having a Fleet Leader that has total control, and is very protective of what he owns. 12th fleet has one supreme commander, and rightfully so, it's his fleet. If he decided to pack it in and disband the fleet, then it should be his decision, alone. I don't feel he would, but he has every right to. To throw permissions around to all your fleet leaders is ludicrous.
