What I was thinking about was the ability to combine the designs of ships that you own to make the ship look better and gain some advantages. but it would also need some of the disadvantages of the ship designs to make it fair. This would make every ones ship completely unique. I know that if this is going to be put into the game it will take awhile but it would be amazing if this could happen (even if it is only for veterans at first).

easily possible from a stats point of view to balance componants in this manner.
warzone 2100 was an example of such customisation.

possible withing the bounds of herp derp cruiser = brick because of the word, youd still end up with the same problems balancewise, even if it could provide more interesting ship designs to look at.

art side issue is it'd require some redesign of many ship modules/parts to avoid gaps, and a method of scaling them that didnt result in a b-rel the size of a scimitar.

a really hard thingwould be getting a consistent way of dealing with the stats of scaled craft. this being something cryptic fails to accomplish now, let alone under a much more dynamic system.

I would love to see this feature also. I would keep some restrictions on it though so that you could only combine escort parts with other escorts, science with science, and cruiser with cruiser. That would cut down on the designers having to redesign models too much while adding more variety. In terms of stats I would say that whatever your base ship is is what your stats are so that if you have a tier 5 cruiser those are what stats/bridge officers you have no matter what nacels/saucer you throw on it.

Speaking of custom ships, im really impressed with the Risian ship, i just got it and have found my new toy!

The customisation is everything it should be, I had fun designing this thing. Its too bad there wasent a matching bridge, but I think if you ever add in a complete ENTERPRISE bridge pack like you did for the belfast and constitution, it would go perfect for this ship!!

The new nanite cannons and turrets work well with it, i may switch out to fleet antiprotons when i get enough dilithum saved up since i choose the glow to be red. Nice work on the enhanced colors by the way im really enjoying all these new things you have added lately.

not in any way would that have meaningful impact on such work.
or do you really think mixing a nova with a nimbus is fine since they are both part of the same derpy 'class'?

Logical progression. Would be a T10 fleet holding...require tons of grinding for resources...can't be "bought" but can equip any console out. Incorporate different technologies from each race that allows different aspects to come out, much like boffs passive space traits.

Require crafting materials for built in abilities such as battle cloak, transwarp drive, sensor analysis, ect.

it would also be cool if you could customise you're boff and console layout for Fleet ships. You'd still be restricted to certain rules such as only one cmd boff station and a maximum of 5 consoles in one area. Fixed ship stats would still come into play these being Hull, no of weapons slots, inertia and turn rate and those that can and cannot equip cannons. but it would allow you to make some interesting builds and current non-competitive ships "cough" "cough" Galaxy-R could be made into a very flexible ship
