Not sure if this will work for everyone but it has helped myself and at least one other user and it's very simple to try.

When you start up your STO launcher, go to options and then change the setting you have in your proxy drop down choice.

Mine was set to US and I kept having problems connecting to the login server and I would get messages like "Disconnected from account server". The first setting I tried was changing this to NONE. I then restartedd the launcher and entered the game and first try was able to log in no problem after fighting with it for 30 minutes being unable to login. I changed the setting back and forth to verify it did indeed affect my problem.

RUBBER BANDING SOLUTION: I thought everything was great now except I was getting major rubberbanding in the game. I then went to the same setting I changed and put it to EU instead of none (I live in Canada) and as luck would have it I was able to still log in no problems and even better I was able to play lag free.

Please reply back to this post if the solution works for anyone else. I know it worked for two people so far and thought I would share. If you need any further clarification on how to do this please let me know.

EDIT: Worked for this user

BUMP

Anyone else try this? It was 2 for 2 to fix the issue for those that did.

Tried it, but it didn't help my connection unfortunately.

Isn't that proxy just for the patch updater anyway? Not sure...

the proy is for the game. Some people have packet filtering or other routing problems. Using the proxy will help some of these people. It depends on your ISP setup because you still have to go through your isp to get to the proxy . So if the ISP is causing the problem then using the proxies will not help much.

Must do more than that since me and one other user got fixed by it last night. It was 100% guaranteed every time I was set to US I would not be able to connect to account server, and when set to none it would instantly work but with rubber banding for me (other guy worked great set to none) then I set to EU and it was working. Sorry it didn't work for you.

I've tried this, I can only log in when it's set to "none", without any improvement. The EU proxy wont let me log in at all, it just times out.

hmm I tried it, and it didn't work for me, well to be honest I don't know because its not able to log in, I get to after the first loading screen where it connects to the network and isn't able to connect and every time I close out the game and restart the launcher, taking off proxy its the same thing. I really wish this would work for me, I mean I understand its the beta and I don't mean to whine, but I was able to play from the starting point to the bridge yesterday and it crashed on me. I'm considering maybe getting my install file from fileplanet....
