The other thing we don't know is how they are going to work New Romulus rep on Romulans. If they give us a bunch of it, it'll be much easier to get those Romulan experimentat beams as well, the ones that don't drain power at all, making for said above ticklebeam healboat, weapon power totally useless.

You can only equip one romulan experimental beam per vessel, so while it is helpful in that it gives you one "free" energy weapon that won't drain your power when it fires, you can not load up with all experimental beams and have no weapon power drop at all. Also, the damage of the experimental beam is still dependent upon the amount of energy you put toward weapons, so you couldn't run a full aux/full shields heal boat and get maximum damage out of an all experimental beam build even if such a thing were possible.

With some of the changes they've been making, though, a science officer in an aux-beam-boat can actually do some pretty nasty things. Conservation of Energy buffs exotic damage up to 30% while under fire, and that lets you bump up Gravity Well, Charged Particle Burst, Antiproton Sweep, Plasma Shockwave...I think that in that one trait, they've given Science Officers quite a bit more to work with.

...which is to say, it will be nerf-hammered into the ground before it goes live.

Yeah... dunno what that would do, I personally haven't found grav well or any other science "damage" powers to be that damaging in general, not sure +30% would make that big of a difference. And I know, "no one cares about pvp" or whatever, but in pvp, that damage won't mean much if your grav well doesn't actually hold anything... etc. For me science powers are really only useful for crowd control.
