# 1 Fleet RSV

Am approaching T2 shipyard and am wondering if the fleet RSV is a viable option. Used to run the standard version on the old style STFs, and absolutly loved her, and never had to many 'epic fails'. Did upgrade to the Vesta, but didnt like it, and am now running the Excel retro, but the RSV has been my fav ship of the entire game thus far.
Just need to know if the fleet version has the 'guts' required for elite missions, or if she dosen't quite 'cut the mustard'.

Obviously it suffers from being a science vessel, but the fleet Recon has chops enough for ESTFs.

ISE, bring any ship, no problems.
KASE, RSV is best on probes, when catching I have been able to get one or both cubes on the side spawned before the smashing team makes it over depending on the the efficiency of the other members
CSE, if you are built well and know what you are doing, you can pull off catching, but it will be a bit harder than an escort. You won't be a detriment to the team if you smash instead.
HSE is a team effort, you pass or fail on teamwork and aggro control, moreso than ship choice.

I have a Fleet RSV, and am still loving it.
I run Tet with high flow cap, so more raw damage can be squeezed out of it (tet procs aren't logged so I can't say how well the shield strip works, but I do know I am missing out when I shoot gates and transformers, and such) if I go with disruptors, AP or Romulan plasmas, but mine does the job plenty well

I think you need to ask yourself why you didn't like the Vesta. I really don't understand that, you can run a Vesta as an exact replica of an RSV layout, the only differences being the Vesta's slightly stronger shield, extra console, and hangar slot (and of course it opens up additional high power options with the DHCs and Aux DHCs), for which it sacrifices a tiny bit of turn rate (which really isn't noticeable in my experience).

Compared to the Recon Vesta the Fleet RSV gets a little more hull and shield, all of the universal slots and other special capabilities of the Vesta removed, and that tiny bit of turn rate restored. When I switched from Fleet RSV to Vesta I thought it was a huge upgrade. So give the Vesta another shot before you put all that money into the Fleet RSV, you might conclude that it's not worth it (and if not, think very hard about why to make sure you won't feel the same way about the Fleet RSV as about the Vesta).

I don't know, I can't quite put my finger on why, but I like my RSV a bit better than my vesta (any type), though I spend just as much time in my Weaver, and wells.

I built my RSV into basically a tank. I can and have tanked Tac cubes with it, and in PvP my fleet mates use me to test their own builds since it's such a pain to kill me. I can't kill them necessarily and battles tend to last a while.

In KASE I usually go cube poping, while I can play with the probes, I generally don't have the overall fire power to take them down quickly without being overwhelmed, but I can sure get the attention of those cubes.

Cure usually does have me on BoP duty, while I actually don't take it into Hive. For whatever reason, everytime I take it into Hive I get knocked out quickly. I think it generates threat really fast (no, nothing IN threat) and gets all the cubes, spheres, and whatnots angry really quickly. My Luna or even my Odyessy does better. Still, if I want a general purpose ship, I bring my RSV to play.

I love my Gumball Machine of DOOM. Of all the various ships I've built, it's my favorite.

Ok, thanks for the input guys, will take another run with the vesta, just need to find a build thats suits...
