Missing additional character slot for current/ lapsed Gold Members
I just got a crash, error 6916609, and the crash handler is right now attempting to upload a 840 MB dump. so perhaps there is a leak, 840MB seems a little excessive for normal memory consumption, but I am probably wrong.
The game crashed back to the desktop 3 times in a row when I was trying to complete Hide and Seek in the lackey system
I get to the end and defend the console, I crash
Reload, I'm in sector space as a person, not my spaceship. Before I can do anything, I crash
Reload, I'm in sector space as a person, I revert to my ship, I beam down, the mission says complete.
I beam out, the mission still says I need to complete the away mission again, I beam down, run to the end.
Place is empty, I go to beam out, I crash
I am running Windows 7 x64 with 6gb of memory
I am using an Intel core i7 quad, hyper-threaded processor (8 virtual cores)
I have an ATI Radeon 4890 with the 64bit 9.11 drivers, I run the game at Max graphics at 1920x1200
I have the latest sound and network drivers
I run Norton 360, office 2007, Google toolbar, champions online and dragon age: origins
I do not overclock
The game can be counted on to crash one or more times during every play session.
Has anyone been able to identify something about my setup that may be causing the issue?
Thanks
Derek
update your video drivers, the version at ati.com is 9.12 if you are running 9.11 you are outdated

840MB these days is nothing. I routinely play games that exceed 1.6GB after barely an hour, and some of them I've had to harp on dev teams to flag their executables as large address-aware simply so they wouldn't "run out of memory" after hitting the 2GB mark.
i7, 12GB, 4890 1GB, vista x64 here, no crashes from this game at all. Only other important thing of note is that I don't run Norton 360 (norton products are garbage), I run AVG Free instead.
Oh, and speaking of "outdated drivers" as if that'd matter, which they don't cuz I don't have any problems with this game, I'm running the 9.10 catalysts.
They've already ordered more server hardware - post's somewhere in the dev tracker but I can't find it atm.
What does that actually tell you.
They handed out so many keys for open beta, more in fact than the servers can handle but they will have been aware of the server limits, so now servers are always full and they have ordered new hardware and servers to help the increasing population numbers.
Ask your self why wouldn't they have these ready to implement so close to release date, fact is they didn't have any at all, almost like they anticipated STO would have such a low population rate that they wouldn't need them.
Now to the trolls who think cryptic are going to give them free playtime for defending them on every single post, actually consider the fact that they where never prepared for every key they gave out to actually be used, why wouldn't they consider that a possibility?..
I certainly hope not since the amount of players on release is going to be exponentially more than those with open beta keys..
It'll be more, but not by as much as you think. Everyone who pre-ordered got a Beta key (and i would say 60-70% of those went on to play the beta). Betas were also available to those who didn't pre-order (like me, but i will do now), so a large portion came from us aswell. On release, they will be much better prepared (they have more equipment on order) for the inevitable increase.

So people who like the game are trolls?
Anyway, what makes you think a server needs to be prepared to have every registered member online at the same time? Thats just absurd. I would imagine it's peak time over in the states, and there is still some overlap with us here in europe. Guessing how big the server capacity needs to be is just that. A guess. They guessed wrong, but are doing everything they can to rectify that. For the time being, either play at a non-peak time, or wait a couple of days for the new servers to be installed.
I kept getting crashes in playing ground mission on Kassae station and Kasae planet 4.... I have the latest update drivers... 9.12 catalsyt GC HD 4870 3. GH processors.. vista 64bits...8 GB Rams
So at the moment unalbe to complete the mission dure to crash.. and when i do go back .. Ihad to start all over again. LOL
I also have an ati card a 4870 with the latest drivers. I updated them yesterday when the server went dont. Since it come back up i have been having major issues. So not sure if its the latest drivers or somthing that happened to the servers after the reboot..
