# 1 Stop Using Photobucket!
04-30-2013, 07:12 AM
Seriously.

See, most (sane) people run NoScript to prevent websites doing tricksy stuff with Javascript, and Photobucket makes it impossible to decicher what needs to be enabled to see images.

So use something else. (And if you aren't blocking Javascript by default, you need to be.)

If you are trying to claim running Javascript is safe, good luck with that.

That's pretty much the exact opposite of what he's saying. A sandbox environment doesn't just let you safetly run javascript, sandboxie also doesn't have the abysmal track record of noscript, which has had an exploit unpatched since 2009 that can basically negate its existence.

Is using Mac Safe? No
Is using Windows safe? No
Is using Linux safe? No
Is IE safe? No
Is Firefox safe? No
Is driving a car safe? No
Is walking across the street safe? No
Is it safe to eat at a fast pace? no

But like with everything, using proper caution and thinking, you can pretty much avoid getting into harms way.

so again: SANDBOX ENVIROMENT

I dumped photobucket years ago. I use Imgur instead, I like it much better.

If I want to run a sandbox, I launch a virtual machine with VMWare. But I'm not going to do that for routine browser use. So, yeah, nothing is guaranteed and NoScript is not flawless, but that is not the point.

Which was about Photobucket and what a terrible c***-ware loaded site it is.

If you're idea of a sandbox requires VMware, you're just being silly. There are plugins for Firefox, IE, Opera, and Safari that enable the same function, Sandboxie manages it with a tray icon, and Chrome has it built right in, though the Linux version of Chrome has a long standing exploit in that feature allowing somebody who already has root access to your system to... uh... well, get root access. It's a bit silly of an exploit, but it's technically there.

God I hate chrome. If you're on a PC use Opera.
