One thing I disliked about EVE was the fact you were basically a Capsule inside a ship hull. What was really cool about Microsoft's Freelancer game was the ability to walk in to the bar and talk to your contact. Jack hinted that you could take a tour of sections of the ship with your friends. If you can tour inside a ship with friends, it shouldn't be too great a leap to be able to teleport inside a ship whose shields are down and tackle the enemy crew in person to person combat. Something like in the movie Star Trek First contact where part of the crew was trying to hold off against the Borg Queen's assimilation of the enterprise and her crew by fighting deck by deck. Also combat outside the ships hull like when Picard in a space suit went to disconnect the transmitter dish to prevent the Borg calling reinforcements to earth sector. Hope Cryptic is able to meld first person combat and the ship combat relatively seamlessly.
