I have the same problem and found out that if you configure the game to load on windowed mode it will no longer crash on a still screen of what seems to be a Federation starbase.

Instead, it will properly display the loading turbolift screen with its progress bar halting at about 1/3 (30%) and then the game hangs.

Are any of you by any chance using Dell notebooks?

I attempted to update my Graphics drivers to see if it helped, but unfortunately I was unable to update them. I have an Intel Mobile 965 Chipset family chip and I can't seem to find drivers that are "validated" or compatible, which apparently means my computer was customized by the vendor. But I bought it directly from Dell...

When i lauch the game by Steam, the Cryptic logo stays there and nothing happens.

I click CTRL +ALT+DEL and go to the service not responding;.

I click over the game cliente and suddanly it responds again.

Today, nothing happens.. i think have to download everything again.;

I use Windows 7

Yes, I also bought mine directly from Dell. The thing is, the driver IS costomized for/by them. Comparing with the current generic driver, the Dell driver is extremely out of date. This integrated card is just sad...

I'll try contacting Dell to see if there is a way to update the driver. What system are you using quakeaddict? I'm on a Inspiron 1525, with some tweaks.

I am also running an Inspiron 1525. How ridiculous to buy a machine from Dell and then not be able to use the drivers from their website. If you find out how to update them, I'd appreciate it if you'd let me know.

By the way Darius, last night I found a work-around to install the Dell Generic Drivers on a customized chip. Unfortunately, when I tried it, it only told me that my Drivers were already up to date. If you'd like, though, I can direct you to the page with the work around as maybe it will work for you.

Guess I'm gonna have to use my Desktop until I can figure out this driver thing.
