# 1 Hangers,pets and slots
05-05-2013, 03:31 PM
Ok so I was playing around with my ships today (all of them) trying to find a good fit and I couldn't help but wonder why carriers have the own hanger bay slots too launch pets.

My oddesey pack doesn't have a launch bay for my escort fighter of saucer sep, my Andorian ship doesn't have a hanger bay to launch its platforms and my promithious doesn't have a hanger when it separates 2 pets.

Surly these ships and others like them that have a pet of any description should have its own dedicated hanger.

Now you could argue that it's a carrier and its got individual hangers as its vital for the ship. But promithious splits in to three and that too is vital for the ship and yet players have to sacrifice a tac,eng or sci slot to be able to use it.

Most ships that come with a console is vital to the ship but they don't get there own dedicated slot to put them in and they should.

Carriers don't need to launch there pets they can fight just fine without them and yet they still get there own slot/s and don't have hull strength reduced like some other ships that separate. So not only do other ships have to sacrifice a sci,eng or tactical slot to use there console but there also taking a bigger risk in using it.

Doesn't add up most tier 5 ships have 10 consoles but carriers have 12. That's balanced.

Birdy on the wire is telling me The Massive KDF Style are going to be selling access to Elite Hangar Pets in a month or so...

But I would be interesting to see some changes to pets and what not, such as an interaction window.

It is strange what you're saying though, because a BoP takes less hull/shields/console slots/boff/weapon slot for it's battle cloak and turn rate
I'm the guy that uses unconventional builds, and don't fall to the normal. I also don't believe in "No-BS" crap, it's in the game, it's ready to be used. Think Clint Eastwood in Heartbreak Ridge.

Carriers play different from the ships that you mentioned. The MVAM actually splits into 3 ships. It doesn't launch any. The Odyssey, and by extension the Galaxy Retrofit, can seperate the saucer section, which is a part of the ship itself. The Aquarius that you can launch from the Odyssey is attached to the hull directly.

Fighters are not a part of the parent carrier, and are stored in hangers. So technically Carriers don't get 1-2 extra console slots, you just have hanger space that you are filling with a type of fighter.

So.. the hanger slots represent the space aboard your carrier for your chosen fighters.

Yeah but you don't need to launch them just like any other ship doesn't need to separate. If an oddy has no dedicated slot to use its pets then a carrier shouldn't have them either.
Fair is fair.
A carrier dosent come with any other consoles that they have to substitute a sci, eng, tac slot to use which means they can fully load out those slots as intended. And then load out there special console pets.
It's just not fair. If a ship comes with a console then it should have its own dedicated console slot like the carriers have.

I think you'll find that every ship with a hangar has either fewer weapons, or a lower turn rate, or both, compared to equivalent ships without hangar bays. I don't really see what the problem here is.

Not really they all have standard 4 front 3 aft weapon slots and then turn rate isn't much less than a cruiser. Not that it's an issue cos they have all the eng slots free to be able to stick run rate consoles in where an oddy can't because it has saucer sep or escort sep in there.

sure a carrier can stack up on turn rate consoles although you overstate the effectiveness, they will be paper when hit. I fly an Oddy on my Eng and carriers on one of my sci's, can't comment on MVAC but as far as oddy goes there is no special need for a special slot unless all console, zen, lockbox ships get free console slot/s.

EDIT:
Nor are they(saucer, MVAC) in fact anything like hanger pets as there are no pet commands

The Odyssey isn't built around the dps of the Saucer Separation or Aquarius Escort, where as carriers are build around the damage of fighters.

Take ships like the Voquv, Atrox, and Recluse...you take away those fighters and those ships would have the damage potential of a wet noodle.
