# 1 A Nervous Wait
05-16-2013, 12:55 AM
Hi all like everyone, I am looking forward to playing LoR, but as a Free Player I won't be playing it on the 21st and am considering leaving it until the 24th at the earliest to start my Romulan journey to give the queues time to cool down a tiny bit, hopefully by then there won't be any queues at all.

But aside from the server issues we've been having lately the biggest thing I'm worried about is the size of the patch tat will integrate the Romulan Faction into STO, I have a usage limit for my broadband connection and I have daily numbers that I've been good at keeping to, now just lately, I've been even better at not going anywhere near my "daily lucky number" but if the LoR patch is bigger than say 4GB it's a small worry for players such as myself on a usage limit

Anyone else out there worried about this?

Not really.... Then again... I don't have limitations, for that matter, I can't imagine why a ISP would impose such a limit on people.

The ISP's here mostly realized that artificially imposing limits on people is actually more expensive than upgrading their own bandwith ability.

You CAN, however, keep a close eye on the patcher, when you prepatch. That way, you will be able to stop the download in good time, and still have download at your disposal.

Make sure on demand patching in on, so that it downloads the smaller amount, and use the pre patcher to keep an eye on what goes in per day.

i assume with download limits, you can still go over, but you just pay a little more??

My (non-Tribblized) system attempted to download a 5,882 MB prepatch.

(Note the word "attempted".)

I have the same conundrum. Most Australian ISP's impose limits. And is rather expensive if you go over or worse they cut you off or drop to dial up speeds.

Will canceling the patches mid download cause issues?

it should not cause issue.. but you will still have to download the rest of the patch. the files that have already been downloaded are still there and the patcher will see that...but the rest? have to download still..so still a big patch you have to do...sorry for you

I feel your pain...
Attempt no.1 : 2276MB / 5883MB
Attempt no.2 : 1268KB / 5883MB
Attempt no.3 : 1268KB / 5883MB
Attempt no.4 : 929KB / 5883MB

This whole pre-patching thing is just pathetic.
Why the F**K create an option to pre-patch if it is not going to work.

Some ISPs with limits can be quite reasonable over large game patching if you discuss it with them. This tends to be because such large patching is a rare occurance. Add to that if your record shows you are normally careful about staying with in the limits they set down can help.

If you are under such a limit it may be an idea to get intouch with your ISP and discuss wth them the issue and see if they are willing to allow the patch not to count to your limit.

A very sensible suggestion. You don't lose anything by asking.

Worked like a charm here.
